SFA (1-0) vs. Mary Hardin-Baylor (1-0)
WHEN: NOV 11 (THUR) 6:30P.M.
WHERE: William R. Johnson Coliseum (Nacogdoches, TX)
WATCH: ESPN+
The second game of the Jacks young season will take place against the NCAA D3 Crusaders of Mary Hardin-Baylor. UHMB filled in last minute after Southern University canceled their matchup earlier last week. The Lumberjacks are looking for another good tune-up before facing South Dakota State in an early test of potential mid-major tournament teams.
Tuesday night saw a lot of potential from players old and new. Besides Kensmil's monster night in the offensive frame and Roti's typical silent work, the night was more about everyone getting a shot at the court than actual effectiveness. Posey got his first start for SFA and showed some flashes - particularly with two 3 point plays sandwiched around a steal for 6 quick points. Jossell took over his role late in the game and exuded some maturity in his late game stature. Hall looks like a great addition as a freshman transfer. Chemistry, of course, is the big need, and they will get another chance to hone it Thursday night.
UHMB will be another tough small school that has nothing to lose when going up against the home team. Last year they were 16-4 in D3 play and have already started the season off with a 100 point win. Guard Josiah Johnson scored 34 points with 5 treys while forward Ty Prince chipped in another 23. They will play with pace.
The Lumberjacks know that they need to be much cleaner in their rotations and defensive assignments. Look for Keller to push his team hard to put the Crusaders away early and stay on it.
