Jacks hitting open shots, something they didn't do the other night.
That's why a basketball season is so long. Bad nights happen. We just opened with ours.
Gotten very sloppy the last 4 minutes.

Tezeno will probably be very good, but hasn't shown anything yet.
Turnovers have returned in this half.

Roti and David are the only two that seem to make decent slices in. Crusaders are fighting hard.

4 points and 10 turnovers in the last 8 minutes. Can't play like this against…anyone else.
Playing just as ugly now as they did the other night. Totally out of sync. This won't cut it against South Dakota State.
So is Aku really not ready, a little hurt or something else? Word from camp was that he was one of the best players. Are we playing a little no tape con on SDST or does he just not deserve floor time.
Of course I say that and he makes a smooth hook shot.

Still undefeated.
We were up by 31 and win by 13. Not good.
22 turnovers vs. a D-III team and 24 vs. a NAIA team.
I'm coming into town for the Sunday game. The Jacks had better play better or they might get embarrassed on their home floor if they play the way they did in the 2nd half.

Pretty frustrated after watching that second half. I was ready to comment how we cut the turnovers down. Had 8 turnovers midway through the second and finished with 21. That's insanely bad.
Saw some very good stretches tonight, but if we don't fix some stuff quick we will get blown out on Sunday.

Should have been a 40 point win. Dribbling into traffic, poor passing angles, turnovers, horrible foul shooting. We will get blown out of the gym Sunday if it's not cleaned up. On a positive note, I loved Hall's play. After a slow start, they had a good burst for about 10-12 minutes, then they played poorly the rest of the way.

Why didn't Hall play more in the 2nd? He was the best player on the court the first half.

Turnovers essentially all came from the starters. Posey may be the best on ball defender. Hall is a great add. David's TO/AST ratio is not good right now.

OK, I've had time to digest last night's game. Here are my thoughts...
1) The last ten minutes of the first half showed what this team is capable of becoming. If they play like that, they are capable to beating anyone (well, maybe except Kansas) and can be the very good team that we've been expecting them to be. If they spread the floor, have good spacing, and get up and down the court in a hurry, they do well. Their half court offense is just not very good, at least not right now. Their defense showed signs of being very good, but the intensity seemed to come and go.
2) Hall is a very pleasant surprise. He was all over the place in the first half... our best player. Why he didn't see more floor time in the second half is a mystery. He became a forgotten man. But perhaps with a huge lead, Keller just wanted to see what some of the others could do. I can't see that happening against SDSU. He's just too valuable.
3) Posey played well. His defense was very good, and he seems to have confidence in his shot on the offensive end.
4) UMHB was sagging on Kensmil, and it worked. UMHB had obviously seen film on the LSU-A game. Expect to see other teams do that regularly, especially SDSU. Solomon stepped up at times and scored and rebounded when he had to when Kensmil was locked up.
5) Rebounding was OK, especially offensive rebounds. Our superior height made that possible, but we can't depend on that advantage very often going forward.
6) Kachelries had another bad night. Way too many turnovers. He's going to have to correct that or he could lose his position as a starter.
7) Against SDSU, I think we'll only see 8 or 9 guys on the floor.... The same starting five, plus Nana, Hall, Aku, and either Jossell or Tezeno. Some of the guys on the team just are not ready for prime time, and I think a couple of them (who shall remain nameless) never will be. Those two or three have me wondering why they were added to the team in the first place.
8) Give UMHB some credit. They played some very good ball in the second half. They started hitting threes like crazy, and every time they scored they continued to build confidence, all the way to the end. Their coaches have to be very happy with the way they played overall against a superior opponent.

I agree with basically everything Ed. Jossell has been really good. He'll be in Sunday's rotation. Tezeno has the body and speed, but he's still a work in progress. If Aku sees meaningful floor time, it's just because he's big not because of what he's done against scrub teams so far.
As mentioned above the last ten minutes of the first half was very good. Quality D1 basketball. We built a thirty point lead early in second half. But I've noticed a trend in all levels of basketball, in big leads everyone tends to lose focus on fundamentals and things gets sloppy.
I think Keller was trying to play everyone and that may be the reason Hall didn't play much second half. Posey reminded me Of John with his in the grill defense. Could be Newcomer of the Year.
Aku looked ok. Didn't see the floor much either game but scored and rebounded well according to the time he was on the court. Tezeno has the ability to become a good player. The transition from high school to D1 is a big leap. He will be fine. Don't forget about Nigel. Also why does every team scorch NBA threes against us. lol
