SFA (11-3, 7-1) vs. Texas A&M - Corpus Christi (3-13, 0-7)
WHEN: FEB 10 (WED) 6:30P.M.
WHERE: William R. Johnson Coliseum (Nacogdoches, TX)
WATCH: ESPN+
What a difference a week makes...or not. SFA is playing their last opponent in the Islanders of Corpus Christi tonight at home after playing them last Wednesday in Corpus. They pretty much cruised through that game - though without Roti Ware the game was definitely closer than some metrics would have it. So just watch tonight as the Jacks tick off another win in the Southland while protecting their undefeated home season.
No, it's a trap part 2! Corpus is a pitiful team. Not only are they a bottom dweller of the SLC this year, they somehow have managed to lose two more games in this past week since SFA played them. They are now the recipients of a long bus ride and getting to play in WRJ where neither the Lumberjacks nor the Ladyjacks have lost since COVID started. (Can you remember that far back?) This is a cakewalk - is what Keller is trying to keep all his team from thinking.
Do you remember who the last team to beat the Lumberjacks at home was? That's right. The team that knocked off Duke, was almost ranked, and won more regular season games than any Southland team in one season going 19-1 lost at home to a 10-10 Texas A&M - Corpus Christi team that by all reasonable stats we were supposed to smear the floor with. They were what kept us from a perfect conference schedule - again! Who's ticked off? I am, and you know Keller is, and you know that this team doesn't want their 17 game home winning streak blown up by Corpus.
There's nothing to tell about players and stats that's going to be any different this game than from last week when our bigs dominated the paint. The guards were a little shorthanded with Roti out, and we will have to wait and see if he hits the floor tonight or not. But this game is another game about grit. We have to want it more. We do.
Axe 'em!
