SFA (13-3, 4-1) vs. Central Arkansas (5-12, 4-2)
WHEN: JAN 15 (WED) 7:00 P.M.
WHERE: Farris Center (Conway, AR)
WATCH: UCA Sports Video ($) Q107.7 (audio)
Well the Jacks have done it - they finally blew a game that they were favored to win. Favored may be an understatement as the Corpus game was the biggest favorite point spread the Jacks have had in the Keller era. But, they blew it. At home. Games like that have the potential to derail seasons. But, this is the team that beat Duke. This is a team that has been defying all expectations. This is team that's hungry. A week off, a week to get right. This is going to be a team that's been waiting for the chance to get last Wednesday's game out of their mind.
Standing in the way is the Central Arkansas Bears. They are a team built for offense. Deandre Jones (5'11" Jr. G) is the heart of the team running point. But the tall 2/3's Rylan Bergersen (6'6" Jr. G) and Eddy Kayouloud (6'7" So. G) like to go hard to the basket and score. This is a team that rarely plays defense outside of 7 foot center Hayden Koval - their shot blocking specialist. They don't foul but they have the 4th worst points per game against in the nation. They do draw fouls a lot. So their strategy is definitely to get the Jacks into foul trouble.
Score and don't foul. It doesn't get much simpler. Jacks don't even have to play spectacular defense - just normal for them. But, they have to be hungry. They can't play like cold fish like last Wednesday. They are not anointed yet. Crazy things happen up in Conway, so we have to bring it. I think we do with a complete team win.
