We're not in a good spot right now, which makes this game bigger than normal. The season is far from lost just 3 games in. We need everyone to keep the support going and give the guys a big crowd, the best we can with school still being out.

Yep. Need some crowd love. Corpus just put up 99 on NWST. We will definitely slow them down, but we're going to have to find some offense or this one could get ugly.

Students dont get back until Tuesday January 17.
This is not a water shed game yet but close. I see a 10 point loss. CC is better than they've shown. I think we are worse than the 4th or 5th place team I predicted at the start of the season.
We can't scored and it looks like cc can. The only advantage we have is that the game is at home. I don't think it will be much help. The southland home record will be broken. Feels like every team Is getting their revenge on us for the last 3 years.
Even If we win, I won't get my hopes up bc this season has been so up n down. I'm tired of saying that "this game is the turning point"

You said they can score. Until the NSU game they had scored 64, 72, 70, 46, 69 points in their last five. NSU plays so many possessions its hard to quantify an offense there. We have a chance to hold the scoring down.

Yeah if anything it's been the opposite for Corpus, compared to past years. They've had multiple games where only 4-5 guys score.
SFA is a muddled mess right now. A big part of the reason for that is they turn the ball over A LOT. Corpus will have plenty of possessions to work with.

SFA opponents have averaged 45 shots over the last 5 games even with all the turnovers. Corpus took 63 against NSU and had one of their best % nights of the season to score like that. Demons don't believe in using shot clock so lots of extra possessions. Its why everyone thinks NSU can't play defense even when they're good.SFA88 said:

Corpus is a very well coached team and will very likely get the W, but I am looking for better composure in crunch time from the Jacks. This team needs to focus on improving the small things above all else.
Did anyone catch Coach Keller's Radio show at CC Smokehouse tonight ?? I wonder what he said about the team?
Last time we played them at home. Makes me realize how much I miss Meech's leg kicks.
Meech really was a special shooter. On any other team in the conference I feel like he would have averaged close to 20 a game. That team is one that years down the road we will look at and think, wow what a special team. Should have been in the sweet sixteen and battling for the elite eight. That team just had it all. I miss those guys so much. They played so unselfish.

Agreed, we were really lucky to be able to have that good of a team. No doubt in my mind we would have beaten Wisconsin in the next round.PurpleForever said:

I don't know if I have seen a team, especially from mid-major, be so strong fundamentally. I hate to say this but I really think that may be the best team SFA will ever have. That team was special. Don't forget wvu was ranked like #10 in the country at the time we faced them. That might be a once in a life time team. 312 is complete fair RPI. Really can't complain now.

Two fouls on Thomas, that'll help a lot.

That 9-0 run by corpus really mitigated that half for them. They do not look good when Thomas is sitting. Jacks are doing a good job shutting down Amin and Thomas. Still sloppiness on the offensive end, but at least they are shooting this game. Turns out when you shoot, you score occasionally.

Yeah, he looks cool body wise, but I guess he gets jacked when playing hard and makes dumb fouls. His fouls continue to be the most ticky tack.

Well that was a total dismantling... and it wasn't of us!!! 33 point win. This is the team that we have been thinking we should have had this year. This team can win the conference.
I'll tone down my own euphoria by saying we shut down Thomas, and CC doesn't have anything without him. They played terrible, couldn't buy a free throw, outrebounded 2-1. And, it doesn't mean anything until we repeat this kind of showing. But what an awesome defensive performance! We like the lead. Maybe we'll start getting some. And Canete was Jacked!
