Scrap the football program if we are going to settle for mediocre at best, and sub-par as average.

Put the money to winning programs, like basketball, soccer, and track and field. At least they have coaches who put forth effort, unlike Conque.

Did anybody notice how poor the entire special teams play was at the N'Western State game ? Shanked punts into the stands, kickoffs out of bounds at the 20 and missed 20 yard field goals. Looks like the competition for specialists job should be wide open come Spring practice. If SFA wants to move up the win column, more focus and precision should be paid to this area. Thoughts ?

We need to focus on our Quidditch team. With the CTE issues in Football, Quidditch will be what packs Homer Bryce on Saturdays in 20 years.

Without disagreeing that they were bad in that final game, I'll also point out that special teams was the most consistent unit on the team all season.

Yeah, that would be almost as thrilling as watching two soccer teams run up and down the field (uh, excuse me... "the pitch") for three hours and end in a 0-0 tie.

I think you discount how entertaining it'd be to watch the opposing team take a bludger to the nose.

Quidditch is practically basketball & dodgeball on grass.

I get the feelings on soccer to some degree. No sport has the same protracted collisions as football or rugby. But.... the financial realities are coming home to roost and soon. Especially if we (SFA) don't grow. I can't imagine tailgating for soccer. That being said unless the NCAA mandates shorter football seasons or otherwise lowers the cost for 95% of the universities that lose money on football , the end is near.

I think even if most schools made money on football, they still won't be able to survive the inevitable lawsuits. Even if a school can get away with saying they didn't know any better in the past, it's going to be hard to make the argument to continue sponsoring football once the full CTE picture is in view.

To be fair, I feel the same about soccer. I find it tough to watch, but if we're playing it, I'll be watching & pulling for the Jacks. Hell, we could start an ice dancing team, so long as it beats Sam Houston, I'll be pulling for us lol.

I'm with you, but I'd have to draw the line at watching an SFA men's Rhythmic Gymnastics team. I just couldn't swallow seeing a former 300 lb. lineman in a tutu twirling ribbons around in the air. But that's just me...
