Just got back to the hotel. Family had a great time at the game. Our daughter was invited to join the Jacks Charge and sit in the Purple Haze section with a friend of hers. She was beaming at the end of the game.

Football wise - the team had a good game today. They were very flat out of the gate but the D woke up and took the wind out of HBUs sails. The offense took longer but once they finally tired out HBUs D and they were able to put up some points.

Watching the end ... and seeing the reaction of Blumricks parents (they were sitting just to our right) ... he may be hurt. He was really hobbling at the end and was on the trainers table at the end of the game. The kid is tough but you can only take so many hits and the O-Line hasn't helped him all that much.

Also thanks to whoever told us to go to Auntie Pasta's. That was really good.

All in all a great first experience at SFA.

I mean... it wasn't that ugly. I would expect this place to be a little more cheery.

It was HB ****ing U. There's no excuse to ever lose to them, especially when on their third string QB.

Win, yes. Quality? Meh

The only reason we won was because it was HBU.

SFA's offense with a backup quarterback scored as many points against HBU as did both Central Arkansas and McNeese while outgaining both significantly.

Some days, there are legitimate complaints. Today isn't one of them. Enjoy the win. Or...don't.

If we had a real offense we'd be more excited but we could only run the ball again

Yeah man, because running the ball isnt "real offense."

Glad you had a great time Huggy MD! Besides the up and downs of our sports programs SFA has a lot to offer, and Nacogdoches on a whole has even more. I hope your daughter has a great experience here.

The offense took what it could. It would be nice if we started faster.

Yay, we won! That's as much as I want to analyze right now. I had fun at the game, Ol Cotton was booming, and I'm going to be happy about a win.

Who knows maybe with a healthy Foster Sawyer, we could have pulled off a few, but maybe we are on schedule to do great things next season with the percentage of returning players from a possible 6-5 team with more experienced seniors and juniors?

I would like to see two things to go along with his pass percentage.

1) How many drops? In yesterdays game there were 2 horrible drive killing drops in the first quarter. I know there were several in the previous two games.

2) How many of his incompletions come as hes getting drilled. He has seen the sky over Nacogdoches more than most Astronomy students at SFA.

To me its less about the QB than the play calling. It is very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very predictable. It's almost like the Crowton is required to run either a screen to the short side or a rush over the Right Tackle on odd numbered downs.
Ljacks&Longnecks
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Completely agree with the good DR on the predictability of our play calling. I have been totally unimpressed with OC Crowton from the start. I'm pretty sure that we lead the nation in completed passes for no gain or a loss and in the number of times we run to the right where 4 or 5 defensive players await us. Now perhaps yesterday there was a plan to throw these and try to open up the line...and we did move on the ground better as game progressed but as a rule these repeated plays result in little offense.

I do agree that a win should be enjoyed...always good to get a W. We do have a chance to win out but the offense will need to pep it up some to do so......believe SELA will be the toughest of the rest.
