HCU win-loss 2-7; 1-4; Home: 2-2; Away: 0-5; Streak: Loss 3 Straight

W Arkansas Baptist 69-0

L @McNeese 0-27
L #19 Southeastern Louisiana 14-38
L @Nicholls 7-31

HCU SLC Rankings (10 Teams)
#8 in scoring offense (17.4); #7 in scoring defense (27.2)
#9 in total offensive yards a game (277.9); #6 in defense (346.4)
#4 in rushing offense (139.3); #8 in rushing defense (180)
#9 in passing offense (138.6); #2 in passing defense (166)

In this his 2nd season, Head Coach Jason Bachtel looks to improve on a dismal 2025 season, one where his offense line is ranked last in the SLC, giving up 29 sacks on the season (averaging 3 a game) and a defensive line that is struggling to get to the QB, sitting last in the conference in sacks (7).

On a positive note HCU is ranked #1 in the conference in interceptions (13) 3 of which went for TD's and #6 in forced fumbles (6) but last in recovering fumbles (2).

Former SFA OC Mike Nesbitt, in his first season at HCU has the conference leading rusher in talented and former 3-star recruit redshirt freshman RB #24 Xai'Shaun Edwards 5-9; 175, out of Clear Springs High in League City, who is averaging 95 yards a game, with 854 total rushing yards, 6.0 AVG, and 10 TD's.

Mississippi State transfer Sr. QB #16 Jake Weir 6-2; 210 out of Tupelo, ranks last in the SLC with 91 completions for 781 yards, 2 TD's and 6 INT's, leads the offense.

On defense look for impact player senior LB #6 Rodney Dansby 6-0; 225 out of Bellaire High who leads the team in tackles (62.0) TFL (3.5) also has an INT, and FF.

In what is shaping up to be that allusive special season that many in Lumberjack Nation have been waiting for, SFA has now won 7-straight games for the first time since the 1995 season (finishing 11-2 and semi-finalist in the FCS playoffs) and look for more, going for win number 8 in a row, something that has not happened since the 1989 season. (12-2-1, Championship Game)

We have history in the making here folks for SFA football!

We should really promote it as a stadium takeover game. Encourage all Houston Area Jacks to show up and make it a home game.

It would also be funny if we could pull more fans to HCU than SH could for any of their FBS games in Houston this year.

I'll be there w/ wife and mom. We usually get a few hundred. HBU will have 400-500.

My updated Power Rankings:

1. SFA- The Jacks played their most complete game of the year in a dominating victory over a very good UTRGV team. Great offense and outstanding defense. If SFA plays like this, the Jacks will be unstoppable.

2. SLU- Did exactly what they were supposed to do against ETAMU. The Lions appear to be getting a tad bit of cockiness from their sideline interviews in the game, but I guess they've earned it.

3. UIW- Welcome back to the top 3 Cards, don't get used to it. UIW is incredibly bipolar. They have a lot of talent on their roster, but something hasn't been clicking. It was clicking in the first half against Lamar, giving them enough of a cushion to fight off the Lamar comeback attempt.

4. Lamar- Reality hit the Cardinals like a sack of bricks. I predicted a month ago that Lamar would lose to UIW, SLU, and SFA back to back to back. I should've put money on it.

5. UTRGV- Scrappy and shows no quit. I still very much like this team, and think they'll finish 9-3 or at worst 8-4.

6. ETAMU- SLU did to them what was supposed to happen. Still very scrappy but their injuries are building up. This might be a rough month.

7. Nicholls- took HCU to the woodshed. Then again HCU has decided the woodshed is their new home.

8. McNeese- Coach V got his 100th win, so that's a big plus for them.

9. HCU- booty cheeks

10. NWST- Booty Cheeks, but capitalized.

SFA moves up in the ranking a little (Should be more)

FCS Stat Performs (Awful Poll)
From 20 to 17

Coaches Poll
From 23 to 21

SELU and Lamar are still ahead of us in the Coaches Poll. But we are ahead in Stat Perform.

I like the coaches' poll versus the metrics; I guess that's what they use in the Stat Perform.
