Kicker Jacob Hand has a heck of a leg. If we ever need 50 yard FG's for the next 3 1/2 years, he's got us covered.

Not sure why we got to kick over after the illegal touching which should have given NSU good field position.
Our "announcers" are so busy yammering they barely noticed the re kick and certainly provided no information.

Neither of NSU's QBs are D-I level.

I don't understand that either, plus why try onside in this type of game. It's not like we need to steal a possesion.

To be fair---NSU did shut down the football team last season around mid-year and I'm sure lost the majority of the team due to whatever the inner problems were on the club. So obviously in a complete rebuild.

edit to add that it was the death of a player ( a shooting I believe) that affected the NSU staff and team and led to the decision. I recall reading a few articles that many players wanted to continue season but the result was to cancel rest of year.

I don't know what the stats are, but NSU is definitely under water near the end of Q 1.

Agree Red, I guess Carthel just can't play a game without "gambling" on something. Would save that play for other games and situations.

The stadium announcer did before the game. Part of his family and former teammates were there to be recognized.

HCU is leading McNeese 27-9 in the 3rd Q.

NSU is not good BUT our passes and several of the receptions tonight have been truly outstanding.

Highly recommend you sync the video with the Q107 radio broadcast. Actual adults who have called a game and know what they're doing. Totally different experience.

I found the "trophy". It was taking a nap near the south end zone. I must say that I'm underwhelmed with the looks of this thing.

Is Carthel just coaching like this for a reason? Relaxing way too early. With about 20 minutes left he relaxed. Maybe I just want to finish NSU early.

This aged well, but I really dislike NSU

Yeah, maybe Carthel let up off the gas a bit too much but it is important to get the young guys some playing time...particularly Rutherford at QB. I would have liked to see him give Rutherford a bit more of the hurry up and mixing up the passes with runs should he be needed to take the reins due to injury.

Rest of the schedule will be much different than the last couple. Will need 60 minutes of getting after it.

I had the same question. I was behind the Purple Haze section (pretty active btw). Didn't see the trophy at all. WT*.

Overall I felt the offense was really special. Vidal on timing routes is something to see. Q Jones. He's something else. A

Defense is better but the DB's seemed to get stretched in the 2nd half. I know we weren't playing all of our starters….

We can beat Lamar.

The trophy was in the area where the ROTC shoots the canon. It was literally laying down (and sleeping like a log.)

Yeah, I know it's rational. NSU was just moving down the field too quick with too few plays. Glad we won the oversized baton.

We won the big stick. Now it's time for boomtown to go dry.

Good victory, even if it was over a very weak opponent (the head coach there has a monumental task of rebuilding that program, and I hope he has success, because this rivalry needs to regain it's tension and thrills). I like that in the first half there was a commitment to run Jones consistently and not take him out of the game. If you have a horse, run that horse a ton.

Vidlak shined. The lob pass in the first half in the end zone to me is the play of the day, Jones' big run notwithstanding. That TD pass was a sight to behold, he could not have walked the ball in any better. Receivers played well. Tough for me to gauge defense given the poor caliber of the NSU offense.

Only downside to the game was....well....I'm not going to say it...

On to Beaumont and a tough test...but I'm more optimistic today than I was earlier in the season.
