Just thinking the same. This could legit be 175-0

Someone call a six man ref and have this game called at halftime.

Am I the only one that thinks there is a downgrade in the quality of the broadcast?? I know there is some changes in broadcasters and staff but doesn't feel the same.

WE have had broadcast issues for some time now.
Camera has slipped off the action a couple of times but not too bad. We have been getting some replays.
I'm not impressed with the announcers but maybe they will grow on me.
Actually still waiting on a breakout year with our ESPN+ coverage. Several of the WAC schools had much better overall broadcasts, not sure about SLC.

Haven't seen RB Williams #8 tonight. Hope he is still around.

There was some positive and a bunch of freshmen mistakes. There's a "phantom noise" like a loose microphone and the transition from advertisement is sketch.

On the positive side I like the energy level. Fix the technical issues and refine the broadcast team and I'm ok.

The camera angle needs to improved. Move in a little.

They need to fix the ambient audio as well though. Part of college football is the pageantry and passion of the fanbase and you can't hear anything but the announcers.

I know we have the equipment. SFA total access never had these lingering issues and the broadcasts were always really good.

They played a jv squad. NAIA Is lower than Juco.

There's a a reason the guy is on his 4th school in as many years and I'll leave it at that

My takeaways.

-Vidlak has a good arm. Obviously we easily overmatched an NAIA opponent, but he was putting balls on the money all night. No bad passes or decisions at all.

-We are deep in the RB room. It didn't matter who was running the ball, we looked explosive with everyone.

-We have depth at QB. Rutherford and McElyea either one could be a good option if Vidlak goes down.

-The defense needs to keep the aggression going every week. Not just because we played a smaller weaker team. That pass rush will give opposing QBs fits.

-The fan turnout even with the rain delay on a Thursday was a very good sign of what to come if we keep winning.

Not broadcast related, but we need new commercials. Graduated 30 years ago and have been back a few times recently. When you see concrete everywhere (DFW) the sight of all the green grass and trees is beautiful. Wife had never been and that's the first thing she commented on and she did several more times. Maybe you take it for granted when you're from East Texas, but we have a beautiful campus. How do you not show that in a commercial?

If there's an area that the UT System could help elevate is our marketing, advertising.

That advert is 4-5 years old. Yikes.

Somebody more football knowledgeable please help me with this...I cannot for the life of me see how playing an opponent like this one is of any value to our program? I can see playing NCAA Div. 2, but this -- in my semi-educated opinion -- is absurd. How does this game get the team prepared for North Texas, or conference play?

Agreed. Sounded like two college students sitting in the student section, especially the play-by-play. Not exactly Pat Sumerall. They need a parabolic microphone to capture crowd noise. Heck, just stick an ordinary mic outside the booth window to pick up something.

Rutherford looked good. I liked his survey of his options (plenty of them) If Rutherford develops he'll be a good one.

I know. I don't disagree with you at all. Personally, when I heard the news about Maurer, I became a McElyea fan. Was hoping he'd get the nod.

But at the end of the day, I didn't see one bad throw from Vidlak last night. Even in contested throws, he was putting the ball exactly where it needed to be.

I still think McElyea would get the job done, but maybe Vidlak will prove me wrong.

Yeah, I think this is a bad look on our program and conference. If you're going to schedule a warm up game, make it a D2, even if it's a bad D2, but don't make it an NAIA game.

Would love to know the backstory on this one… When was it scheduled? Is it a filler game because we couldn't find someone?

1 step forward 15 steps back! I know we shouldn't compare our U to what Sam does but I see them and wish we had forward momentum as well. This drop back to SLC makes sense on a travel basis and allows a potential path to more stability for now but I need something to be excited about and I simply am not excited right now. Blessings to all Jack Nation!

Scheduled May 30th. Think it was basically the only team left for that date after the late conference move.

I'm not generally in favor of NAIA games, but we got a write up in Yahoo Sports and the Washington Post for it.

migata---I'm always ready for Jack football regardless of conference. The move back to SLC is what it is. I suspect there was pressure put on SFA administration to cut back on the budget but that's a guess. It could also have been the quick disintegration of WAC football and then GCU leaving. Those that know will never disclose anything to the fanbase, so those are best guesses.

Now last night's game did nothing for me due to the huge mismatch. Never really once got excited. Jacks did look sharp but it was just a glorified practice. Next week it gets real and we will see what the Jacks can do as the season progresses.

As for Sam---what was their record last year in FBS? 3-9 While they did score a couple of decent wins they are looking at years of mediocracy while trying to build up to FBS standards. Is that anything to look forward too? Maybe in 5-8 years they can win 6 games and go to a no name bowl game. Whoopee.

SFA football is where it belongs in FCS. The overall rearranging and changing of college football will continue for awhile until the BIG schools get their Super conference. So how long the SLC continues or we stay there is still anyone's guess.

With last night behind us, now I'm ready for the season.

And with all the fuse people are making over this on twitter, you know nobody made North American University play this game, they could have denied the offer, but they agreed to it and knew what they were getting themselves into.

After going up 70 points SFA did their best with some sort of mercy ruling with the 5 minute 3rd and 4th quarters.

OK, moving on!

Worth noting NAU played both Portland State and UIW last year. They lost 91-0 and 63-3 respectively.

So unlike UIW, we shut them out.
