The Thunderbirds of Southern Utah could easly be sitting at 6-1 in 2022, losing some heart breaking losses in their current 3-game losing streak. Losses that consists of falling behind early only to surge late to fall short.

SUU's offense averages 26 points a game with 107 yards rushing (3.5 YPC) and 274 yards (7.6 YPP) passing a game.

Starting QB Justin Miller, the 6-3; 210 junior out of Highland, Utah has completed 160 passes (65%) for 1,889 yards and 12 TD's with 6 INTS. Miller threw for a season high 380 yards last week against Tarleton.

The Thunderbirds like to use the speed of their sub 6 ft receivers in WR Isaiah Wooden 5-9; 170, their go to receiver with 27 receptions for 642 yards (23.78 a catch) and 5 scores. Steve Jenkins 5-11; 175 and Ethan Bolingbroke 5-10; 175 combined for 34 catches 426 yards and 3 TDs.

The rushing attack is by committee with RB's Bobby Cole, Isaiah Williams, Elijah Burns, and Braedon Wissler combinding for 549 yards (4.5 AVG) and 7 TDs.

The Thunderbird defense allows 30 points a game giving up almost 150 yards rushing and 300 yards passing a game.

True freshman LB Kohner Cullimore 5-11; 225 leads the team in tackles with 44, 6.5 of those for losses and 2.5 sacks. Watch out for hard hitting junior LB Aubrey Nellems 6-1; 210 with his 35 tackles, 8.5 for a loss and 3 FF's.

The secondary is well represented by junior safety Rodrick Ward 5-11; 180 with his 3 INTs and 10 BU's.

Sitting atop the ASUN/WAC Power Rankings, SFA does hold their own destiny with 4 games remaining, (2 on the road and 2 at home) now playing like a team with that of a playoff mentality, knowing that every one of those remaining games, are nothing more than elimination games, and it now time to win or go home.

SUU has been competitive this year. They could easily be 6-1. Playing in the Big Sky , they are used to difficult tasks week in, week out.

True. They played ACU a very close game, and obviously we had a hard time against them, too. Carthel better have the guys ready, especially since it'll be a home game for SUU.

Each conference shall nominate its regular season champion (by the conference's own formula) for AQ comparison.
If the regular season champion is a reclassifying team, the conference shall nominate the team finishing highest in the regular season standings that is eligible for an FCS AQ. Tiebreaker formulas are to be set by each conference and may include use of the ASUN-WAC Power Ranking after the conclusion of regular season play.
If the two nominated teams have the same W-L record in Countable Games, and they met during the regular season, the head-to-head winner shall be the AQ recipient.
If item No. 3 above is not applicable, the team with the higher ASUN-WAC Power Ranking will be declared the AQ recipient.

AKA this is going to be a **** show

Great write-up, as usual. SFA should win this game. But as others pointed out, it's dangerous. Clearly, there is no quit is SUU and it can be hard to keep players from looking at records and focus on playing hard.

This 25-30 mph wind is really taking a toll on those going into the wind. SU punt only nets 15-20 yards.
SFA needs to capitalize while riding the wind.
