Now I don't want to hear a single person say we can't beat Sam Houston, or anyone else all year.

Obviously I want to win, but if you aren't happy after this performance win or loss then you'll never be.

Preach to em Purple.. I have been tellin y'all we are on the come up.. OL played well against a P5 school and we were down to RB 5 for the 2nd half.. we got a squad Lumberjack fans..

WOW!! WHAT A GAME!!

I do t know what Carthel said or did this last week at practice, but this was a different SFA team that showed up tonight in Lubbock!!

If we play like that against Sam Houston, we will beat them hands down!! Everyone executed well tonight and wanted a "W"!!

AXE 'EM JACKS!!

Get your asses to Nac next weekend. Keep the support high. This isn't the same pushover team we've had before

Anybody out there still doubt that the Carthel era is going to be great!

I'll be the first to admit that before tonight, I haven't felt like Carthel has shown much. But tonight was a great game. I'm not sure I'm on the bandwagon yet, but I definitely have more optimism for the season.

I'm ready to see if we can compete for this year's odd league title.

We can beat Sam.

Ultimately Carthel like all coaches will be judged by win-loss record. That said he walked into this campus with nothing and is building a team. The difference is night and day from his first game here through tonight. The O Line and D Line are looking stronger than in many years and the defensive backs and safeties we have now are quite strong. Take away TT 2 big pass play gains tonight and their pass yardage is very unimpressive.
Carthel and Co. are putting the pieces together for success. Now the wins should start coming our way with regularity.

On another note, Self played a tremendous game tonight. Most passes were very short or screen variety but I'm sure that was the game plan to be able to compete. Nice to see that his critics are on mute tonight.
SFASawmillGuy
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Most of his passes were short but his longer passes were on target. What I saw was smart QB play. He didn't force anything, try too hard, or make mistakes. And he actually used his athleticism. Honestly he played tonight better than probably any FCS QB in the country could have. The look on his face at the end reminded me of Colt McCoys after his loss to tech, it was a QB who did everything he possibly could to win and just coming up short.

This entire team is going to be special.

Xavier Gipson had 157 yards on 13 catches. He was unstoppable under the legal rules of football.

I was at a concert last night but following the stats & was able to watch the 4th quarter. Great, exciting game! To have a chance of winning at the very end ....that's all you can ask for! What a game....AxeEm!

come on folks…you scored one offensive TD and a Pick six….you are not ready for the Kats. Have you already forgotten that you struggled vs a brand New D1 Tarleton? Lol. Come on. Seriously tho, i do hope yall win out before BOTPW.

Who the Kats? Livin that ship up still, looking "OK" against the multi-directional schools I guess. BOTPW will be a good contest. But after the Lumberjacks thump your butts, nobody will remember the " * " champion of 2021. Looking forward to watching this pan out. Hopefully C Ark wont take any of the polish off the BOTPW

Keep your head in the sand about this team. It will be settled on the field. The Jacks almost perfectly executed the game plan against a P5 school. 32 point underdogs nearly won.

We had the opportunity to travel with the team to Lubbock. Not much to add to the game comments, but a couple of other observations.

I sensed what the logistics were to move the team, staff, support group, and equipment, but until I saw it first hand, I didn't begin to appreciate all that goes into it. There were a lot of people that put in real work over very long hours. Flew out of Longview Friday afternoon, and flew back landing about 1:30 AM Sunday to avoid the cost of another hotel night. Amazing group of hard working people involved.

This team is composed of an outstanding group of young men. Polite, respectful, cleaned up after themselves at meals, etc. They got very high marks from hotel staff and others. Win or lose, you should know that you can be proud of how they represent SFA.

Why didn't Moe Wedman play? Had a good Game 1.

Self - 84 pass attempts with zero INT's. That will win a lot of games.

RB stats are worrisome. Obviously caused by injuries.

Gipson was held on that last offensive play. Not called. I'd like to say it was home cooking but probably just a missed call.

Quick averaging 47 per punt through two. Nice.

Campos perfect through two.

OL and DL looking very good.

Mississippi Valley State lost to Murray State 35-0 on Sept. 2. Didn't play yesterday. A get well game, we hope. Murray had 455 total yards, with 307 coming on the ground.

Moe did play and had a great catch that was called back for a questionable offensive pass interference call.

XAVIER GIPSON

13 catches (career high) 158 yards on the big stage.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
The posted individual stats are somewhat suspect. For example, I know we played more than five O linemen, and Chase Ruiz did not have a 73 yard punt. I believe the home team is responsible for stats.

Announced attendance was 55,271. No way actual attendance was close to that. Lots of empty seats that grew at half time.
Pilotgirl

I just saw kickoff for BOYPW is at 4. Wasn't it earlier in the past? I'm gonna have to miss it. I have afriend coming in that day from Tyler and going to an already planned concert that night, too. Dang it! We've been in attendance at all of the BOTPW these past several years...hopefully, it'll be a great game!
SFAXE93
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The stats are way off in some respects, because we have players with the same numbers and they are getting all mixed up.

They have #10 Myles Brooks showing receiving yards, but it should be #10 Simmons.

#11 Jeremiah David and #11 Jeremiah Miller showing Miller with defensive stats, Miller has an INT according to his stats along with a tackle against Tech.

Showing players as participating, who didn't play at all, and showing players who did not participate who actually did.

Now we badly need running backs to heal over the next 2 games. I don't believe in taking opponents too lightly but the next 2 should be in the win column. THEN comes sam and Jacksonville St back to back. That will be the next huge tests on the Good to Great road. We need healthy RBs to fully enable the offense.

If SFA tears it up this season and makes the playoffs and wins a game or two in the playoffs, and with most of this team coming back in 2022, they make another run, FBS programs can't help but see this guy can do it on any level, a real winner, and seems to have the formula to build a program.

If he can do to SFA what he did at Commerce, yes he will get the call from the FBS.

This would be considered his second season since 2020 was voided, so let's see if he wins the conference in his second season at SFA like he did at Commerce.

I know of some wealthier alumni that know it takes more $$ to be injected into the Ath department if they ever want to be FBS.. It is a 5 yr plan from now and we shall see.. I know they love coach and the values he brings to the program.. They will not let us get pencilled whipped and let a leader like Carthel go.. Coach needs to win a NC first and then we will have to hide coach,Sarah and the Carthel boys in Stone Fort because the big boys will be calling!!
