Take me out to the ball park, take me out to the game.
This week the Lumberjacks take on fellow SLC foe, the Wildcats of Abilene Christian in the confines of Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas.
Two teams that know each other very well and a team SFA always seems to rise up to play well.
2019: @ACU:31; SFA 24 (2OT)
2018: SFA:24; ACU:21
2017: SFA:20; @ACU:10
2016: SFA:41; ACU:30
2015: @ACU:35; SFA:32
2014: ACU:37; SFA:35
The Wildcats have not played a game since Oct. 3 as their game with West Texas A&M was cancelled, leaving only games against FBS competition Army and UTEP left to study.
Like the Lumberjacks ACU played UTEP very well on the road losing only 13-17, holding the Miners to 293 total yards of offense and 2.9 yards per carry on the ground.
At West Point ACU managed to put 23 points on the board against a very good 5-1 cadet team where Iowa transfer Junior QB Peyton Mansell 6-2; 210 completed 23 passes for 279 yards with 3 TDs and no INTs.
In his two games Mansell has completed 37 passes for 481 yards 3 TDs and 0 INTs.
On the ground the Wildcats are led by junior RB Tyrese White 5-9; 197 with 59 yards on 17 carries (3.5 average) and true freshman RB Jermiah Dobbins 5-9; 185 with 51 yards on 11 carries (4.0 average) and 1 TD.
At receiver ACU has the talents of junior WR Lionell McConnell 6-0; 187 with 14 catches for 145 yards, sophomore WR Taelyn Williams 6-1; 169 with 5 catches for 119 yards and junior WR Kobe Clark 5-10; 173 with 2 TDs off of 4 catches for 72 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball ACU returns senior linebacker Jack Gibbens 6-4; 240 who had 8 tackles against Army.
In this, his 4th season in Abilene, Head Coach Adam Dorrel like Coach Carthel leads a very young team with only 16 seniors that are itching to get back out on the field and will no doubt be fired up to play SFA.
This should be a classic!
