SFA (2-6; 2-9) vs. NORTHWESTERN STATE (3-5; 3-8)

WHEN: NOV. 21 (THURS.) 6:00 P.M.
WHERE: NATCHITOCHES, LOUISIANA (TURPIN STADIUM)
TV: DEMON TV

We close out the 2019 season with the annual Battle for Chief Caddo against a red hot Northwestern State team that has suddenly awakened.

After starting the season 0-5, that included a loss to division II foe Midwestern State 7-33, the Demons coming off of their bye week have found their thrive...

35-45 Nicholls
30-31 UCA
44-41 UIW
20-30 McNeese
34-13 Lamar
31-28 SHSU

...having now won 3 of their last 4 including a stunning upset in Huntsville, that saw the Demons come back from a 7-21 deficit in the first quarter winning 31-28 and knocking the bearkats out of the playoffs in the process.

Senior QB Shelton EpplerIn completed 26 passes for 306 yards and 2 TDs, including a 67 yard bomb to WR Kendrick Price who ended the day with 114 yards and a score on 4 catches.

I couldn't think of a better way for the Lumberjacks to go into the off season than to cool of the Demons and bring home the Chief where he belongs.

Just like to say again that I think playing this game on a Thursday is dumb. Not only do less fans from both teams get to attend, but we can't even watch it on TV without paying for whatever "Demon TV" is.

Put it back on Saturdays please like normal college football. I wish we could make our game with Northwestern State bigger overall, but this is a step back in the rivalry IMO.

You're not projecting Carl Williams as a starter? What has happened to him? He came with such hype and hullaballoo. Has he been injured or just a disappointment?

I wouldn't want to play HBU on a Thursday night, much less a rival.

If you wanna make sure no one gives two craps about this rivalry, this is the way to do it.

I hope that in 2025, when all the dust settles, we're no longer in the SLC.

Agree on all points. Having the game on a Thursday makes it almost invisible. If it was nationally televised, it might be worth the exposure and money. As is, I cannot think of how it creates any value at all.

SFA vs NSU is a rivalry that should be promoted in all sports. Nacogdoches/Natchitoches. Texas/Louisiana. Two hours apart. Chief Caddo. Sabine River Rivalry.

Exactly. One of my best friends is a Texas State season ticket holder and we talk about how many games the Sun Belt plays on Thursdays. The attendance is awful, but they are always on ESPN/ESPN2 so there's an understanding that they at least get the exposure.

Why can't we get this on some sort of TV network? Trying not to blame NWST here since they don't have an ESPN3 deal like us, but there are so many networks now that always play random games like this. I feel like we're not even trying now with this rivalry.

Agree that Thursday night games suck and serve no purpose if not on TV or promoted widely for Chief Caddo and rivalry reasons. Don't understand why this was done.
Also even though this season has been one of many pains and challenges I would really like to watch the finale but not likely to do on the Demon network. Guess it will be Rob Meyers tonight.
