Well, we have the 2nd worst defense in America.
Last year, Lamar QB ran for 225 on us.
Not that this is breaking news, but I don't like our chances of getting enough stops to win, so were gonna have to score just about every possession, and not FG's, but TD's.

Our defense is a victim of circumstance right now. Injuries and intelligibility has hurt us so bad this year. Without the intelligibility alone I bet we're 2-2 or maybe even 3-1. Starting 2 true freshmen walk-on players on the defensive line puts us basically in a no win situation.
I know everyone hates to hear "next year", but next year we will be dangerous. This season, I think we still Rattle off a couple of wins.
Anyone have any updates on our intelligible players? s btw?
I'm still not sold on the "injuries and players" are the main reason for our defensive struggles. It seems our scheme is questionable, at best, at times...like, why are we playing press man with no safety in the last 30 seconds of the half against TSU...a play that results in a 50+ yard TD, when clearly the WR from Tarleton was superior to our CB, yet we constantly left them in 1v1 matchups.
By no means does the loss of the players help, but we've made very little adjustment in the scheme to try and mediate those losses.
I'm not a coach, don't want to be one, way too stressful, BUT...if we know we are thin on the D-Line and we are CONSTANTLY being dominated up there, why do we continue to run just three and four man fronts? We literally have nothing to lose, why not stack a nose guard, two 3 techniques and two five techniques? Make them block a five man front.
Look, I get it, it's easy for me to armchair coach, but it seems that the players we do have, the one's that are playing aren't being put in a position to succeed, at least not constantly enough.
It looked to me like Carthel has modified the offense to fit the skills of the players around. I noticed that he had Trae on the move much more in the Nicholls game. It appears to fit his skills to be on the move more that standing in the pocket.
To me, some of the errors on defense are not because of the players but because of the scheme issue directly from the coaches.
