Head Coach and SFA Alumni Todd Whitten is coming home and he's bringing a loaded team of seniors, 30 in all.

Last season Tarleton State had an impressive 12-1 record and a run to the NCAA Regional Finals with the #5 offense in the nation along with 24 all-conference players including 6 All-Americans.

The offense is lead by senior QB Ben Holmes 6-0; 200 All Conference (2nd Team) and Team MVP who completed nearly 60% of his passes for 2,659 yards and 28 TDs (3,160 total yards 30 TDs) who will continue to look to his favorite target returning senior Zimari Manning 6-2; 200 REC:44; YDS:947 TD:12

Senior running back Daniel McCants 5-8; 175 will return as the teams leading rusher 1,162 yards 7.3 average and 8 scores.

The defense held opponents to 16 points and 214 yards per game (85 rushing/116 passing)

The much younger Lumberjacks will have their hands full with the Division II powerhouse from the Lone Star Conference, that Head Coach Carthel knows all to well.

I believe they were mailed earlier in the week. We received ours on Friday.

I love driving up with them moving the saw horse to let us in.

I caught the tail end of it and heard him say "we had to take those players off the bus".. but what did he say about the situation before I heard this.. because when I heard this he was summarizing everything up.. I know there is still a chance for LeGarde and Tammarick..

I haven't heard names, but I think you are pretty close. Perhaps get one back this week. I haven't figured out who the punter is. Quick is the only one on the roster.

I do understand that none of the players did anything wrong. This was an adult error in advising.

Yes sir 76 it was an adult error.. It's sad because kids come to our University to get a degree and athletics is an avenue that helps pay for the degree.. We as a University let those kids down.. and to think the guy still has a job with the University just baffles me.. When it is all said and done I would expect some forfeits in other sports and yes basketball is one of the sports.. We have a leader in Ryan now so all we can do is move forward and be as transparent as possible with the NCAA..

I would say it is a must win. A loss and it shows no growth and begins to impact the hype that the carthel hire has brought to the program. I know it's only game 2 but we need to win this!

I remember meeting several Sawmillers at the tailgate on what ended up being the first of many many rainy game days last fall. Beautiful weather today. Let's hope it's a portent for the rest of the games this year.

If the guys were confident they could have won last year, then I didn't share their feelings. I thought the rain out could have saved some embarrassment for a paper bag kind of season. This year though, Carthel is going to get revenge and do some work.

Who knows, but this doesn't feel good.
