Honestly better than I hoped for. The ten minutes after going down 14-0 really showed me something. Defense looked good...not great, but mainly in the right spots with the right coverage. Offense was shakier, but there's flashes there of what could get put together.

Very impressed with our physicality. During the Miss St. game, I was concerned that our guys would survive the night. We played at a pretty high tempo on a hot night and did not look run over.

Cam and offense scoring in garbage time was great because last year's team couldn't even do that. I now think we can contend in most SLC games. But first, let's beat Tarleton.

The best takeaway? No major injuries.

They sounded good as I listened on Radio. Though I'm pretty sure Rob could make my honey do list sound good.

That SFA team tonight can win 4-5 games. Still not top of conference (which is a REALLY good FCS conference) but we're not gonna be an easy out at all.

Saw coaches tweet on hoping to get some players back next week.. I really hope it's those guys that weren't there today.. especially OL/DL help..

WR:#8 Tamrick Pace must have been one of them. I'm looking on the box score and participation chart and he never was in the game.

So Pace was not shut down, because he never played. Hope we get him back.

Clater
Williams
Simmons all started.

Well the cell signal at Lake Livingston State Park was spotty at best. Got to see a little of the game.

We covered the spread which is good. Scored on them multiple times - also good. Looking forward to see how things go this season.

Just a few more days until we get to see them at home.

The only thing I wanted was competence. Feel like we got it.

When we didn't make a play, it wasn't because it was poor scheme or out of position (which was basically the issue in 2018), it was because we just missed it.

Trae had several throws to wide open men he just missed. That will come. The scheme worked.

Defense was in position most of the time, just missed, but we seemed to be in the right spot the majority of the time.

Special teams...woof. Biggest adjustment needed here.

Coaching, loved the fire. Never quit.

Who is this punter they had to leave in Nacogdoches? Also, note the comment about Tarleton. I don't believe that is coach speak.

Perhaps this got shared, and I just haven't seen it. Had to chuckle at the bottle from Balcones Distillery coming from the Baylor coach.

Just to piggyback on this, we found all of the Baylor folks to be very cordial and welcoming before, during, and after the game. Multiple random "safe travels", and "thanks for coming."

After watching the game again, i did not see #72, or #8.

They kept saying Pace's name but it was #9 Remi and not #8

I heard them credit Pace with a catch on the PA, but it was not him.

Which true freshmen played?

True, but think about the leaking sieve that the OL has been the last two years. Got to start somewhere. Carthel is throwing that great recruiting class into the fire right away. And with the OL he inherited, he had no choice.

I agree completely. Simply an indicator of how far down we were. But then, we all saw that and the previous staff did next to nothing to fix it.

Yeah that was the year we beat Eastern Washington in the playoffs. 2009 was a great season, should have beaten SMU. We had like 5-6 turnovers.

I know the score is pointless to talk about. I thought the boys did well and played like a team. It was a great start. I'm proud of the boys. I believe this season will have a lot more wins than loses. A few will be surprises, but it will happen. Good luck and sincerely the best of wishes to the guys, they have worked hard and their efforts will pay off.

You know, Baylor beating OU 28-3 at the start of the second quarter let's me know it could have always been worse.
