Jacks win!

Defense played good. Except for stacks of penalties on certain drives. But they deserve it.

Anthony's gift of a TD was the ultimate difference maker though. In the podcast, Isaac said that Anthony MAY be the best SLC QB. He did not look like it tonight. He missed tons of throws.

Blumrick racks up yet another win in the Sawyer era. He looked very decent. The OL was much better tonight.

Four more wins to a contract.

I think ACU is better, but, I'll take the win.

We are a bad offensive team. Bad bad bad.

Thankfully, Acu was just a bit worse on O and kicking.

And, our "end of half" game management is atrocious. We tried to give that game away.

But, a win. Yay!

As my dad used to tell me in golf ... it's not how ... it's how many.

While the game wasn't played the best and we have alot of room to improve. A Win is a Win. Light up those lights and let the football team enjoy it.

Glad to see the team got their first win of the season.

All we can do is just keep on supporting them and hopefully they'll build on tonight's win.

Congrats in order for the Lumberjacks. Good win tonight. Well deserved.

**One complaint. Tell your color announcer to keep his opinions about the refs to himself. He came off really bush league at the end of the game. Maybe he was right or maybe not but he went too far on the air when he accused the refs of changing the way the game was called to favor ACU. It took away from the Jacks great effort tonight.**

Blumrick is best when he doesn't have to make a lot of reads so boring offense comes with the territory when your starting QB is hurt. Still, I've been really low on him and he came through tonight. That was the best the offense has moved with Jake playing ever, even if they had a hard time scoring.

I liked that Byrd eased off on the pressure tonight. I thought he really got away from what made that defense good last year when he was bringing heat against Mississippi State and UIW. ACU missed tons of chances but you cannot be disappointed with the outcome considering Sawyer's condition. Really nice team win.

My 6 hour round trip was worth it.

Agreed. Better to win ugly than lose. Glad Jake got the chance to put a W on the board.

I've been reading all the comments about how bad Blumrick is and how Josh should be playing.. Josh is not a passer.. he can run..that's it. It has always been a battle for the starting job between Foster and Jake. The Coachs are hopefully playing for their jobs so don't you think they are playing the best players.. And last year against ACU while Sawyer was in SFA was losing. He got injured and Blumrick came back and won the game. JJake is a passing QB. He passed for over 250 yrds last night. Not bad for being a non passing QB is some peoples opinion. When the offensive line can give him alittle time he's good.. Last year the offensive line was horrible and Jake never had time to go through his reads.. Also pease tell what Foster has done that makes him so great in everyone's mind. This team responds to Jake, it was obvious last night. Tje play calling is simple because no one this coaching staff has play calling experience... Everyonein the stadium knew we were going to run the ball on 1st down... Every 1st down! How many 3rd and 9 did we have last night. Your only giving your QB two plays to make something happen. Everyone needs to remember there are 1000's of people that can possibly do your job better than you but none of us can do what each of these players do every week.

I think a combination of the wet conditions plus your defense just playing well made Luke play so bad, he normally plays a lot better than that. IMO it's definitely not a stretch to say he might be the best QB in the SLC, but like you said he definitely didn't play like it last night.

At the game until the final gun (which actually didn't happen thanks to the refs). A lot of improvement still needed, but they came out and did what it took, so congrats to Coach Byrd and the game plan. Nothing is ever perfect, but more bounces went our way than not - scoop and score, 3 missed FGs evened out too many D penalties. The only time I thought we might lose our advantage was when Covey ran around for a -22 yard loss when field position was important that late in the game. All in all, I'll take the win in the rain. The purple sky was a good omen for us. Worst call of the night: the refs telling ROTC to stop firing the cannon due to too much smoke.

BTW, went to my first volleyball series on Saturday at 1pm. What a fantastic atmosphere - Shelton was standing room only. It was electric and they took down a good CentralArk team in 3 straight sets.

We needed a win. We got a win. Of course the team has more to improve on. At least instead of continuing to roll down hill the brakes where applied and team turned around. Now they have to start going uphill again.

Jake did a good job running the plays the OC gave him to run. Sawyer got a concussion on the 8th play of the IUW game. That was before the target hit he took. That is why his passes were way off and in the wrong place. He was having a hard time just knowing where he was in that first half.

Jake has come in and moved the ball in the IUW game and then against ACU he got the win and put some points on the board.

This was a good win for us and I am going to enjoy the sunshine while it's out.
