I just saw that UTA fired Scott Cross and the entire staff.

72 wins the past 3 years. Ouch.

Tell you what, there are some SLC programs that could make a big splash by hiring this guy (and by firing their current guy) ahem, Sam Houston. IF, they can afford him, which is probably unlikely.

Had to be some behind the scenes issues, had to be.

That team was the poster child for underachieving this year. So much talent and expectations, but fell flat...Got it together to knock off Louisiana in the tournament, but lost to Georgia State in the championship...

The guy won at Ohio State, Texas, St Mary's and BYU twice. Their program has done more in the last 3 years than the previous 10. No good reason to fire him unless he did something unprofessional.

Pretty sure his agent is getting some phone calls rn.

Jim Baker is the AD at UTA. One NCAA appearance in twelve years for Cross at UTA. Who on this forum would accept that? SFA is setting the bar.

We did, with Danny Kaspar. Not saying UTA is wrong, but sure seems odd, to say the least.

If he couldn't get it done this year with that roster, I dunno. Definitely a questionable firing, but i see the logic behind it...

Danny had a great couple of years at the end of his SFA time, but he was getting pressure to do more, and he knew his time was winding down in Nac. He made a good move at a great time.

Sorry AD but there can only be one SF Austin in March.

Chris Ogden is the hot rumor to replace Cross. Ogden has been at TT the last two years following one season at Tennessee. Played four years at UT and spent the next twelve in various assistant roles there.

Apparently, they are still negotiating the Cross buy out.

Press conference set for noon today to introduce Ogden as the new UTA head coach.

Reported that Cross is being paid $400k of the $762k remaining in the last two years of his contract.

Good spot for him.
