Right now the top of the WAC is much better than the SLC - look at how many WAC schools traveled to SLC schools and beat the SLC teams on their own court. Cal State Bakersfield will leave the WAC and join the Big West in 2020 with all those other California based mid-majors. The WAC is adding Cal Baptist but they are transitioning to D1. Chicago State is having funding problems and GCU has stated before that they would love to be in the WCC. In five years, the WAC may look much much different so it might be possible but SFA may not want to be there when it happens.

Not to mention the travel cost for SFA would be high and let's face it, SFA is a poor university with little money to spend on basketball.
