Consistent FCS power Liberty University has received a waiver from the NCAA to become and FBS school without a conference invite to become an FBS independent.

Where the heck does Liberty get all this money? Their online students?

I'm sure an athletic fee has something to do with it.
Or the fact that their tuition is about 4 times higher than SFA.
Or possibly yes, their over 100,000 online students.
The school has over $1.5 billion.
And they somehow manage to fit over 22,000 fans in their 19,000 capacity football stadium.

Wow that's insane. 1.5 billion?

I'd imagine they'd stay FBS independent for a bit. It's not like they need the money from a conference.
At least until they can get their stadium upgraded. They're planning on increasing the capacity from 19,000 to over 30,000 with room to expand up to 60,000.
They have extremely high goals for themselves as far as football is concerned.

Next year they'll hire Art Briles.
