The only SLC school who could feasibly go to C-USA is us, and we still have some infrastructure work to do before we would be ready. McNeese just doesn't have the budget for it.

Exactly, not sure why McNeese keeps dreaming of this. They aren't the child of Louisiana, that's LSU. Everything runs through them.

They "think" they're ready.

Knight Newhouse has our budget around $27 million. Not sure how accurate that as McBroom has done some trimming. Knight Newhouse has been the gold standard regarding athletic department finances.

Yeah, right now SFA has one of the highest athletic budgets in the FCS and higher than some FBS schools.

McBroom has a budget of $20 million to stay within. That's where it has been for at least two years.

I think that by the end of the upcoming season someone in our loaded RB room will make the developer of this list realize the error of his ways. We have too much talent in that group for someone (maybe more than one?) to not have a standout season.

The maker of this list clarified that this is the top returning RBs.

I take all state school reported numbers with a grain of salt. A million dollar loss for fencing? I'm just assuming that the coaches' salary and meeting space and maybe a foil or two are budgeted. That's a lot of travel, nutrition expense.

I don't know that sport super well, but there's reasons to make small sports like this look like huge losses. Most notably, often scholarships at retail value will be considered as expenses. This gives admins more flexibility to treat these sports however they want. Few jobs in America can justify a $3M/year loss like Penn St. baseball, but there's more spreadsheet maneuvering going on here than meets the clickbait eye.

This post doesn't take into account that there are only a few programs that can profit like this. Penn St averages a near sold out crowd every single week regardless of their success. With their stadium size, their reach and popularity, they make professional sports money. A smaller school having tremendous success and selling their stadium out would make a small percentage of that revenue.

Football is the most profitable sport for almost every football playing school in D1, but not to the level this post is trying to convey.
