Houston Baptist, picked to finish last in the SLC, defeated Rice 8-7 in 10 innings in both teams' first game.

Funny story. Was looking at some other baseball programs to see how they were doing this year. I was on the UT site and saw they are in Houston in a couple of weeks. I clicked on the UH link to see about tickets and it sent me straight to the Houston Community College website...lol

UH isn't allowing fans right now. Still funny though.

Interesting. Ole Miss will be trying to win that school's second NCAA national championship in any sport when they play Oklahoma tomorrow in the men's College World Series.

Hey, guys. SFA already has two.

Softball facilities are excellent also. Before she went to UNM, Dickson strongly considered La Tech. Not the way to get it, but this is part of why they have the facilities they have in spite of being bottom third in budget in the CUSA.

OK, let's not go that route to get new facilities. (Thanks, 76. I had forgotten about that situation.)

Definitely. We could use some demolition, but in a planned way.

Yes, our Jacks had a bad season, but they were far from being THIS bad...

Maryland Eastern Shore finished the season 0-48. They were the first D-I team to finish winless since Coppin State in 2009. Their team ERA was 11.32 and opponents' batting average was .342.

Monroe news star reported 22 million for Baseball,Softball and Soccer complex. It is encouraging that the new AD mentioned getting all facilities caught up with Basketball. Football, Baseball,Softball and Ladies Volleyball are in dire need.

If we're going to continue to play baseball we should definitely invest in it.

I'm not sure they will do 22 mil, but I would love to see what the plans are for newer facilities when the AD has them ready.

I'm going to take McBroom at his word ,,, shouldn't that be what it's all about? Taking some one at there word.

I hope we get access to some of that UT money along with some SFA donors,,,

We need a lot. Everyone on here knows it. If we can "just" get football and T&F First and foremost.

If somehow we could get some help within baseball…….. that would be cause for a party.

Let me preface this with I LOVE baseball/softball.

However, if the university can't/wont invest into the program, it needs to be scrapped until they have a plan in place to do it the right way. It is embarrassing. I'll admit it has come a long way, but it is still light years away from being a D1 facility.

The location isn't even a huge deal breaker for me. I can deal with off campus facilities, but something has to change. With the portal now in full affect, we aren't going to benefit on the recruiting trail and are more likely to lose guys to JUCO instead of gaining guys.

Scott Wilson is a fan of the University of Texas baseball program. And I mean he is a SUPER FAN!

On Friday night (May 16) Wilson attended the 1,500th straight UT baseball game, both home and away games. The last game he missed was in April of 2000. During those 24 years, UT has played in 17 states, and Wilson has been there for every one of them.

UT Coach David Pierce said "for somone to attend 1,500 straight games he'd have to really love this place or else have no life".

Volleyball is not in "dire need." McBroom specially mentioned that he likes what has been done there. There are definite needs like scoreboard, PA system, and players area, but it's a really good VB facility. Dire needs include baseball, softball, bowling, and fieldhouse. A facilities master plan that McBroom spoke to is critical.

The La Tech baseball, softball, and soccer facilities were destroyed in an EF3 tornado in 2019.

I was looking at a Nac map last night, and the only places that are near campus are the land between the commuter lots and the post office or if you build in the woods behind the football field.

Not many options left.

If they can't get it on campus or closer, and that is the best location, then so be it. They just need to upgrade that facility to match a D1 level facility.

Upgrades needed if they stay...
Home locker room. Get them out of the portable building and make a permanent facility with offices, meeting rooms, weight facility, training rooms, etc.
Visitor locker room. SOMETHING is better than nothing.
Upgraded parking
Fence it off to "separate" it from the little league facilities.

There are a lot of little things they can do to upgrade that facility and make it a more desirable spot...

I also think there are a lot of overcomplicated projects in college sports.

Like if it's not on campus, no reason it shouldn't be a giant barn shaped facility for the offices etc and nice on the inside. Maybe give it one of those nice front facades the giant churches use sometimes and go to town.

I'd love to see it closer/on campus bc then you could share facilities with other sports and it'd also draw in baseball tournaments and what not.

Given SFAs space constraints, starting a near campus sports facilities park might make the most sense in case you move other sports out there in the future, like track or a full soccer facility, etc.

HCU baseball HC Lance Berkman has resigned following his third losing season in the position. He stated that he resigned because he was unable to achieve the success that he thought he could bring to the program.

Would he consider the SFA job? Nah...

Call the Birmingham Southern Head Coach. Team doesn't even have a school anymore and still made the D3 CWS.

Birmingham Southern and ETBU have excellent coaches that would do great.

In a side note, Lamar not getting in is a travesty. Feel for Tarleton for getting their waiver denied.

UT just pulled off a coup and poached A&Ms Schlossnagle to be their new baseball head coach.
