I think part of what made Texas/USC so legendary was the battle of the three Heisman finalists, the one Texas fans thought should have won, versus the guy who did and the guy from the year before. That's why I think we're still talking about that game a decade later.

But last night was...awesome.

No. The amount of talent in the Texas/USC may never be matched again. 49 players that played in that game went on to play in the NFL. That's not even counting those that didn't play and red shirts (Colt McCoy for example).

Last night was fantastic, Top 5 on the list for sure, maybe Top 3. But one game had Vince Young beating two Heisman winners. The other had Jalen Hurts going 13 of 31 for 131 yards.

I was lucky enough to be at the Texas/USC game (both parents are Texas grads and season ticket holders). That game had the hype and was an amazing game for all 4 quarters, I don't think it will ever be topped. I think both those teams beat both teams from last night (highly debatable there).

Well not for me because I'm from Texas. To me the difference is in style of play. I don't know which is better for the game, but even 10 years later, the game seems more calculated. I feel like I'm watching two battle plans working themselves out - finding the *****s in the armor. Until the final two minutes which is chaos.
The Texas game felt more organic (maybe because I was rooting hard), but it felt like men were willing themselves to go above the normal play of the game. A lot of heart. Nothing taking away from last night, and I'm glad Alabama didn't walk away with it.

Edit: after SFA-guy and now this, is it possible to turn down our hate speech monitoring. It's funny for being so sad that this is where we are

I think Deshaun Watson showed that the wrong guy won the Heisman Trophy.

I agree. Another example of why the Heisman should be awarded after the entire season. Voters had Jackson as the winner in their heads a long time ago. This was one of my favorite tweets from last night:
