Sounds like a good one. From perfectgame.org:
"David Wilson is a 2019 1B/RHP/3B with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from Austin, TX who attends Akins. Big and strong athletic build, pretty mature physically, looks bigger than listed size. Right handed hitter, hits from a spread stance with a rock back load, deep hand load, has length in his swing but lots of raw bat speed when he stays back and behind the ball, can impact the ball hard and hit it a long way, definite next level bat speed. 7.14 runner, has outstanding arm strength at first base and in the outfield, had solid actions in the outfield and looks like he has a chance to play right field, will be an asset at first base as well. Excellent student."
This guy and his mom were at the Sam games today. They had not seen the schedule change, so they got to the park at the end of game one. Mom obviously loves the game, and was happy to talk about David. She gave a scouting report that was very similar to the perfectgame comments. She thinks outfield is his future. Due to his high school having their two top pitchers out with injury, he is pitching more this year. Mom says they tried to start him a couple of times, but he is not a starter. Good for a couple of innings, but that is it. The kid is big. An outfielder with good range, plus arm strength, and can hit, would be a starter today.
Mom commented that they visited a lot of colleges and talked to a lot of coaches. They liked SFA, but they really, really liked Johnny. She referred to him as Johnny.
