Edit: Found a few things on the interweb... Will probably have to sit one. Was suspended in March from spring practice by Tech's new coach for "internal reasons". He also had an earlier run-in with the po po, but the charges were dropped. And he had academic issues that caused him to miss the entire 2017 season. He had dropped to third on Tech's depth chart, which, along with the suspension, is probably the main reason he left.

Here's hoping he gets his act together in a smaller school environment under Coach Carthel's staff and their positive influence. Everyone deserves a second chance.

I am probably more leery than some here about guys that got into or made their own trouble elsewhere then want or need to transfer......2nd chance yes but I think 2nd chances need to be earned. I will trust that this coaching staff has vetted the players and the issues and spoken very openly to the guys about expectations and keeping out of trouble. Not trying to be overly negative, hopefully these young men are ready to prove themselves and move forward both on and off the field. Believe in the vision.

Boyd is like the only football player Coach Carthel follows on Twitter and it has been for some time.

He was a hell of a player at Gilmer, one of the top Texas recruits coming out of high school.

He definitely lost his cool big time in that accident caused by another driver. I know absolutely nothing about Boyd, but I don't think that one action in the heat of a situation (ruled a misdemeanor) should be allowed to destroy his reputation and/or his life. As someone said, we have to trust that Carthel and his staff thoroughly vetted the young man.

Competition for PT will be intense. These Juco guys will let most of the freshmen RS, particularly the OL guys. Really building a team for two to three years out.

Looking forward to football season for the first time in .... years. Several years.
