Seriously, they couldn't raise $1,500 to $4,000 for new uniforms in 5 years?
NTCC baseball team does an annual fund raiser for the team, for new uniforms, meals, travel budget, etc, $10K goal, that they surpass every year, and that's little ole Northeast Texas.

Our "donor" contributions are pretty solid if you look at Knight Newhouse. I compared our private contributions to our peers in the SLC. It's just that all SLC universities need more.

Women's sports are historically under supported and under appreciated. Our soccer team had higher priorities, like a locker room, shoes, shoe dryers (that's an important thing), etc. that they raised a lot of money for. Donations for our women's sports have gone towards travel costs and meals.

Work is moving ahead. College St. is now closed. I would assume permanently. Also whatever the name of the road that goes behind the stadium and connects with the Ag pond parking lot is closed too. So no more cutting through campus.
I got to come home to Lufkin this past week. I drove to Nacogdoches to visit the campus. It's the first time I've been on campus in probably 40 years. I was stunned at what I saw! The campus is just as beautiful as I remember. Lots of buildings gone, new ones in place, etc. I loved everything about it. I felt a rush of emotions as I walked the campus. My years at SFA were 4 of the happiest years of my life. I need to get back a lot more often..

Glad you made it. I try to get up to Nacogdoches at least 2X in the fall for football and 2X in the spring for basketball. In a couple of years the campus will be transformed!

The campus is vastly different from how it was just 11 years ago when I graduated! And for the better! SFA is transforming into a modern university while still keeping that charm we all fell in love with!

Kudos to the university for doing a wonderful job with the improvements and keeping true to "that charm." One example, I was there in the late 80's-90's and I remember how antiquated the UC felt then. I went back to see it after it was expanded and could not believe how nice it was/is. My daughter was in theatre right after those improvements were completed and I thought they did a beautiful job with it. I was in the Forestry building a few years back while one of my kids was getting advised and thought this place has absolutely not changed since I left...lo and behold it is now being rebuilt. Lots of exciting things going on at SFA! If they do only half of what is proposed, it will be impressive.
As a side, I have had to do numerous campus tours the last few years with my children as prospective students. I have actually had to go to freshman orientation at U of H, A@M and SFA. Proud to say that the best experience was at SFA, both tour and orientation.
Just read an article that suggests Lumberjack Crossing construction is about to start. This is the one near Lumberjack Landing, I think.

Well stopped by when I went to Nac yesterday its all fenced off. So seems like soon they will break ground. Im loving all the green space!

I wished someone would post photos of the construction progress. It would be nice to see updates of all the changes on campus.

Forestry was doing it for a while. The building looks fantastic! I hope they can finish by end of the year and get students for Spring 2027. If I were still a student, I would do it haha.

Next time I'm up on campus I'll try to get some pics. Most of the work is concentrated on the new forestry and entrepreneurship buildings right now. My oldest daughter and I took the campus tour last week and the central campus was pretty construction free for the beginning of the school year.

If you're a member of the Alumni Association you have probably received the Fall edition of the Sawdust magazine. It's one of the slickest and most informative issues I've ever seen.
The main article titled "The Next 100 Years" is a gem! It discusses and clarifies the university's strategic and campus master plans. It includes beautiful conceptual color drawings of the entire campus of the near-and-far future.
Being the SFA athletics junkie that I am, two full pages of drawings of the future athletics facilities just blew me away! I've been gazing at them for days ever since the magazine arrived. Includes beautiful renderings of the football stadium, baseball and softball venues, track and field complex, tennis venue, soccer stadium, indoor practice facility, and others.
Oh, and our very own regular SFA Sawmill contributor Alan Jones (aka SFAJack_76) and his wife Kim are highlighted elsewhere in the issue for their many contributions to SFA athletics programs and for funding scholarships elsewhere in the university, including the department that molded him, Forestry. Thanks for all you do, Alan and Kim!

The plans in the Sawdust magazine are awesome!! I am thrilled that the University (and Athletics) is FINALLY headed in the right direction, and have excellent leadership in place to push this through!! After waiting for this moment for 25+ years, I am hoping that I will still be alive when it is all finished and get the opportunity to actuall experience it!!
