Saw some photos today showing the flooding around town from the torrential rainfall. Looks like the Soccer field was not spared. Considering the location, I'm not surprised by that. How quickly will that drain? Will the turf survive?

SFA fought nature in that part of town again, and nature won again.

A lot of Nacogdoches is under water currently. Lots of road closures. Turf should be ok, but it does depend on how quick it drains.

I would be very pleasantly surprised if the soccer pitch is okay. I suspect it will take a complete rebuild.

"For SFA, being part of the system means future growth. The incoming freshman class increased 7% this fall, university president Dr. Neal Weaver said, and the graduate program is up by 6%."

I was on campus in April and May. You can feel the confidence.

A Master Plan does not exist. A process is moving forward to select a vendor to complete one. For the first time, athletics facilities will be an integral part of the plan. Nine months, plus or minus, is a reasonable expectation to getting the plan.

The replacement of the ATCFA building is moving forward. The UT System has committed roughly $80 million to the college. Expect to see activity sometime in early 2025.

That's good news regarding the school of forestry. Even more optimistic about the athletics facilities angle. Fingers crossed that we get a few things done.

Dr. Weaver is engaged across the campus. I've heard from multiple people that he is known to walk across campus and talk to anybody and everybody. He also is not bashful about setting expectations, and following up on those. This gathering is in the board room of the Austin Building.

Today is SFA Giving day. The donor leaderboard is linked below. In terms numbers of donors in honor of athletics, it is interesting to see cheer, baseball, and bowling dominating.

In academics, the College of Liberal and Applied Arts has the most donors, followed by the College of Business.
