Men's team is showing some promise. They have had a couple of tournaments with two solid rounds before falling way off in the final round. They did not have that lapse in a just concluded tournament in Lake Charles where they finished third behind Louisiana-Lafayette and Marquette. More importantly, they finished ahead of Lamar, Nicholls, SLU, McNeese, and UNO.
The women's team is not performing well.

Surprised we are that bad. The entire athletic department is going to get fresh look soon. Robert Hill did a fantastic job but even Superman has to retire eventually.

I noticed he was not on the 2018-2019 roster. Found that he transferred to Texas Tech. SLC freshman of the year 2017-2018. Significant loss, although the team finished tied for second in a 14 team tournament this week.SFAJack_76 said:

Ladyjacks started the season poorly finishing 11th in a 14 team field.
SFA media struggling for a positive headline when they are last in a 16 team field after the first two rounds. Final round today. SFA golf teams are not inspiring.

Hey they completed the day. Props to them - that's a lot of walking. They will probably now live a longer healthier life.
They are playing just outside Denver. Altitude probably got to them.
I looked at the roster. Lots of freshman and sophomores. They'll be better in a couple of years.

The two best scorers on the team this year through three tournaments are seniors, so they will be gone. The second best scorer on the team last year was a freshman that, for some reason, transferred to Texas Tech.BigJack85 said:

Through twelve years with Schroeder as head coach, the Jacks have finished second once and third twice in SLC tournament play. The best the Ladyjacks team has done in nine years is fourth. Not a high level record of recruiting, development, and retention.
Ladyjacks are playing in a tournament in Magnolia where the conference championship will be played. Seven of the eight SLC teams that have women's golf teams are participating with UCA being the one not there. After the first round, of the SLC teams, the Ladyjacks are ahead of Incarnate Word.
Ladyjacks finished eighth in a fourteen team field. Finished fourteen strokes ahead of ninth place Incarnate Word. Places 1-5 were the other SLC teams competing. Ladys finished 22 strokes behind fifth place McNeese, and 51 strokes behind winner Sam.
It is a long time to the conference championship in April, but I would not count on many Commisioner's Cup points.

Men's golf finished third in a twelve team meet in Louisiana. Behind two non-SLC teams, and ahead of SLU, HBU, Nicholls, UIW, UNO, and Central Arkansas. Led by Hendrix and Leyvani, the two seniors on the team.
It's progress. They wouldn't have had a sniff at 9th in that tournament a few years ago. Gradually getting better golfers.

Well .... current rank 209 of 253 D1 teams according to Golfstat. UIW at 213 is the only SLC team ranked below SFA. This tournament had a weak field.
Maybe my recollection is off but it seems they had girls on the squad a few years ago that struggled to get into the 70's consistently.
As with almost every deficiency we have a decent facility (a structure at Woodland Hills) or other enhancements would make an enormous difference.

Ladyjacks finish in a tie with UIW for fifth in a fifteen team tournament. Ahead of McNeese. Behind A&M-Corpus, and tournament champion Sam. Not a bad result relative to previous results. The headline, most likely, will be that they had the best score of the final round. Well, equal to Sam and A&M-Corpus, but still.
Lumberjacks finish13th in a 16 team field. Ahead of HBU. Behind Lamar and second place Sam. I have no clue what a positive headline can be for this one.

Dropped one spot in the final round to finish 14th of 18 teams. Can't wait for the headline.
