Pitching deluxe in this one as the Jacks take game 3 in the series 2-1 over UAPB.
Tomorrow is Nate Vidlak shove day!
Tomorrow is Nate Vidlak shove day!
#11 Dylan Mulcahy (Jr.) gets the start and the win, going 5 innings, giving up 1 run off of 2 hits, striking out 6 and walking 3.

Solid support from the bullpen #7 Elian Balmaceda (Sr.) 2 innings of work, no runs on 2 hits, with a K, and no walks.

New comer #33 Gage Elliott (So.) comes into close, going 1.1 innings, striking out 2 and walking 2.

#13 Ethan Pena (Jr.) keeps his hitting streak going, having hit safely in every game since starting.

After being shut out in game two #1 Cemodrick Bland (So.) rebounds nicely with 2 hits, driving in 2 runs, giving the Jacks just enough to win it.

SFA looks to even the series tomorrow in game 4.

#1 Cemodrick Bland (So.) off to a hot start in game 4

A triple, a RBI and a run SFA up 2-0 in the top of the 2nd, #15 Nate Vidlak (Sr.) with a quick 1,2,3 inning with a K.

UAPB takes the lead 3-2 on a bases loaded, batter hit by the ball.

Vidlak struggling with the strike zone, 3 walks now, 4 hits, with 2 K's, still early bottom of the 3rd.

K'ed! got out of that one, leaves the bases loaded.

3-2 UAPB to the 4th

#15 Nate Vidlak (Sr.) is done after 3 innings, 3 runs off of 4 hits, 3 walks, and 3 K's

In now #21 Andrew Wenske (Jr.)

The wind is very gusty, but the UAPB pitcher is throwing strikes.

#42 Juan Cantua (Jr.) makes it all the way to 3rd after a 1 out single to right field, then steals 2nd, then advances to 3rd on a failed attempt to pick him off at 2nd with the ball carrying out to center field. #1 Cemodrick Bland (So.) makes it to 1st on an over thrown ball, proceeds to 2nd, Cantua scores, so we are tied at 3-3 in the top of the 5th.

Don't know how they will score this to the runner, but Bland is 3 for 3 today, a triple and 2 singles with a run and RBI.

SFA makes it two in a row and ties the series at 2 with an 11-5 win over UAPB.

The Jacks blew it open in the top of the 6th inning, with 7 runs, mostly on forced walks on a bases loaded situation that the Golden Lions just could not get out of.

#24 Julian Swift (Sr.) with 2 RBI's, 2 hits (a double) and a walk.

The bats were back on as Bland, Swift, Pena (continues his hitting streak), and Black with multiple hit days.

It was hard to find the strike zone as the wind was gusting, with 14 total walks combined for both teams.

Six Lumberjack pitchers got to see action, two for the first time this season in #31 Nate Bergeron (So.) and former Northeast Texas Dirty Bird #32 Ayden Terry (Jr.) all six combined for 8 K's, 4 earned runs, 11 hits, and 6 walks.

Jacks improve to 7-2 and head back to Texas and Waco, for the Baylor Bears, Tuesday night at 4:00 on ESPN+, before conference play kicks in.

That was pretty bad ass what Coop did on that steal at home after the forced run on the walk.

They never expected it.

I'll be the first to admit it, I don't promote the other sports near enough on twitter. Football is pretty much the only sport I can afford to dedicate a ton of time to in twitter to promote heavily with everything going on in my personal life, but this year of SFA athletics has absolutely been full of breathtaking moments. I've definitely been dropping the ball in terms of promoting our great university.

So this is my apology to every SFA fan outside of football that I've failed to include in the Sawmill's social media. I will try to do better.

SFA (7-2) vs. BAYLOR (4-3)

The Jacks get their first big game against a power 5 team in the Baylor Bears of the Big XII. Last season SFA lead Baylor 4-3 going into the bottom of the 6th in Waco, before the Bears eventually would go on to win 9-4.

BU is currently on a 3-game losing streak, but are 4-0 at home, where they started the season with a 3-game sweep of New Mexico State, and a single non-conference game against Texas State.

They have since lost to #7 Oregon State 1-3, Purdue 5-6, and #18 Southern Miss. 1-5 all at the Round Rock Classic in Dell Diamond.

Their big star players are Travis Sanders who is batting .440 after 7 games, 25 at bats, 8 runs, 11 hits, 3 doubles, a triple, 3 stolen bases, and Tyce Armstrong with his team leading 15 RBI's after hitting three grand slam HRs in a game.

Their pitching ace is Ethan Calder 0.00 ERA, .92 WHIP, 10 K's in 8 innings pitched, .167 BAA, but I don't know if they play him in this one. The pitching staff has a 3.43 ERA as a whole.

Maybe the Jacks go with #19 Seanan Farney (Jr.) on the mound tonight? ERA 0.00; WHIP 0.67; SO:5; BB:2; 0.00 BAA, in 3 innings pitched.

This is a different level ball game for the Jacks, and I'm sure they are up to the challenge.

SFA gave the Bears all they could handle coming up short 8-9.

Baylor jump out quickly with 3 home runs on starting pitcher #19 Seanan Farney (Jr.) taking a 5 run lead into the top of the 5th when SFA finally got on the board when #1 Cemodrick Bland (So.) hit a 3 run shot to right field. He finished with 4 RBI's.

The Bears quickly responded with 3 more runs in the bottom of the 5th to take a 8-3 lead into the top of the 6th, but SFA had a response of their own with 5 runs in the inning to tie it up at 8.

But BU got the final word in the bottom of the 8th with a double steal at second and home.

SFA out hit Baylor 11-10, struck out 9 batters, to Baylors 5.

#17 Mark Henning (Sr.) with a 3 hit night, Bland, Creel, and Pena all with multiple hits in this game.

DeJesus was back in the lineup and Ibe pinch hit in the bottom of the 9th.

The Baylor announcers were impressed with SFA, Baylor threw 7 pitchers at the Jacks to find an answer, they had to finally bring in one of their top pitchers in Caleb Bunch who they didn't want to bring in.

New season starts Friday in New Orleans with the conference opener at 6:30.
