I emailed him and I was not very polite. I didn't use any foul language, but I did make it clear that this decision is stupid. They don't give a damn I'm sure, but still they need to hear how people feel about this ridiculous decision.SCH890 said:
Bowling makes zero senes to gut it. Mens and Womens golf has been on the decline even though having that new course built nearby could make it money. Beach volleyball made no sense at the time and the team has been iffy at best.
Im gonna find a way to email him and let him know about Bowling. I encourage others do the same.

Pretty much how my email was worded.djsfw57 said:I emailed him and I was not very polite. I didn't use any foul language, but I did make it clear that this decision is stupid. They don't give a damn I'm sure, but still they need to hear how people feel about this ridiculous decision.SCH890 said:

I don't love the idea of cutting the bowling team, but I can understand the argument on the other sports.
The few hundred thousand dollars that cutting these sports saves is not nothing, but is not a lotto jackpot if you know what I mean.
But the coming house settlement is going to massively change the allowed scholarships for our other sports. Basically, you'll be allowed to offer a full scholarship to every player on the roster. But note that you do not have to offer the max.
So women's soccer can now offer 28 scholarships instead of 14. 45 women's track scholarships instead of 18.

And with these sports cancelled we have 18 women's scholarships and 4.5 men scholarships freed up for other sports.
To maintain title ix compliance, we'd likely need to offer about 13 other women's scholarships. So you can add 3 new full rides to soccer, 4 to softball, 3 to volleyball, etc.
Which would make us more competitive in those sports, while our Southland competitors are likely to go the other direction and cut scholarships for more sports.
That means an increased likelihood of making NCAA tourneys in those sports. And you've freed 70 a few hundred k that you can invest in other sports.
