Ladyjacks did quite good. Second if eight. Men did okay. Fifth of ten.

The first SLC championship of the 2019-2020 season takes place on November 1, in Conway, Arkansas. The Ladyjacks, led by this young woman, have an good chance to win. They are currently ranked sixth in the South Central region behind teams like UT and Arkansas. The men have dropped out of the fifteen ranked teams in the region.

Somewhat old news, but I did not see that anyone had posted it.

Was wondering about last season's outstanding women's freshman pole vaulter Natassja Campbell and found she has transferred to Arkansas. Disappointing.

It's Bizzell! Come on man.

Shame Campbell transferred, she is a star in the making and will leave her mark.

Finally corrected the spelling.

Actual was 5.62 meters. Also, Kaylee Bizzell was second to Jennifer Suhr, one of the best women pole vaulters ever.

He gets better each week.

In the details of the meet in Houston is a meet record by Kansas transfer, sophomore AJ Bennett, in the 400 with a time of 47.53. The record had stood since 2006.

Also watch MATHILDE COQUILLAUD-SALOMON. Although her bio on the sfa site is not complete, it appears she is a hurdle/multi Sophomore transfer from South Carolina. Originally from France.

Multi event men and women are in College Station. Junior Juco transfer from Jamaica is in first after day one.

Freshman from France finished third behind two upper class Aggies in the women's pentathlon. She is a really good hurdler.

Pole vaulter Antonio Ruiz transferred to SFA from Texas Tech after one year. After a year at SFA, he is now at UH. Solid vaulter. Not in the Ellis category though.

Ok, so this is based on my somewhat shaky knowledge of Track & Field events, but it seems that some events, like Pole Vault, Javelin, Discuss, etc are much more reliant on technique than pure physical talent, like say a sprinter.

No doubt that the more technical events include incredible athletes. But are there other events, like pole vault, where we could build up a recruitment & coaching pipeline that the big schools might be ignoring?

Especially ones that don't rely on signing the fastest sprinter or most athletic jumper in the nation every year?

Ellis is 19. I would be surprised if he doesn't add his name to this list.

Well short of his best, but neatly 2' better than second place. He took three vaults at 5.81.

Both women and men end the first day of the SLC indoor championship in first place. Lumberjacks by 3 points over SLU. Ladyjacks by 19.75 points over NSU.

Men need more depth. Perhaps some of these two sport guys Carthel is recruiting will help next season.
