The Lumberjacks start their 2026-27 season against the D3 Lyon Scots. It will be the season opener for both teams. It may be hard to believe that Lyon can field a team with an undergraduate enrollment of 702, but this will be the third matchup between the two teams. SFA has yet to put up more than 66 points against them, but expect that to change tonight. Last meeting 23 years ago was a 12 point win for the home team.

The new season promises more excitement for Coach Braeuer's second class. Tonight's game should be more of a tune-up for players and their assignments. Come out to cheer on a new year!

Their whole enrollment must play some sport as they have 8 men's sports including football along with 8 women's sports plus cheer!

Dozens of people here tonight. Our "freshman" point guard Makke starts it off with a trey.

Lyon winning 5-4 90 seconds in.

True hockey line change three minutes in. Time for the B-line.

SFA 12-8 first media. Headed for a NBA score line at this early rate. Scurry, Makke, and Russell with threes early.

Scott with the assist for another Scurry three. Glad to see Scott back.

Not impressed with our ability to get inside

The crowd looks pitiful.

SFA 25-13 second media. Seven threes in 8 minutes. Makke x2, Russell x2, Scurry x2, Simmons. Narit 0-2 early. I wonder how many games will have 7 threes before Narit has one.

Narit has two fingers taped together on his shooting hand.

Daniel looked terrible for the first 10 minutes just had a drive, a rebound, and a nice block in the last minute.

Pearson finally gets in and immediately drives for the basket. And is still perfect from the line. Think he went 6-6 against Sam.

Would like to see more of Daniels.

Scurry joins Makke with his third three.

Scott drains a three and then has a nice no look assist to Reed.

Scurry looked like a player on that drive!

SFA 45 Lyons Elementary 20

Manciel comes in and quickly joins the three party.

Narit makes his first to become the seventh Jack with a triple this half. Definitely could set a record as Makke hits his fourth of the half.

SFA 54-24 final first half media. 13 threes so far.

They actually look pretty good for a D-III team.

The very unofficial AI stat says 10 threes in a half is our best ever. 15 in a game.

Looks like Coach has alot to work with this year. The team looks stacked. Makke looks like a player. Russell is athletic. I like all 3 bigs, they play hard. Green looks like he has improved. Manciel doesn't look to bad. Hupp, Brysonand Candler has not played.

Maybe coach is trying to test our 3 point / perimeter game. Will we try to move the ball inside against an undersized team? Try and refine a little bit….
