My predictions:

First Round:
New Orleans over HCU
Nicholls over NWST

Second Round:
TAMUCC over New Orleans
UTRGV over Nicholls

Third Round:
SFA over TAMUCC
McNeese over UTRGV (I can see an Upset here, maybe)

Final
SFA Over McNeese (Obviously, I still think we played them better twice, even though we are 1-1)
No-look

#1 seed definitely draws the easier side this tournament. UNO played us well, but I will take any SLC that's playing their third game in as many days. Corpus has a good season but we have matched up well.

On a side note, the latest bracketology that has us as a 13 seed against Texas Tech is just pure fantasy to get coach and protege against each other.

I think the CBS Bracketology has us playing Iowa St.

A 12 seed sounds right if we win. An away game at McNeese should be a quad 1 game which would really help our ranking. However, all conference tournaments are considered neutral sites even when played on the host's home court. So, a championship matchup would just be ranked a Q2 game.

Anyway, a 12 seed is almost a lock for either team.

Do we know of any other leagues that have their tournaments hosted by a participating team?

Found it.

America East is for sure one.

You would have to check if any team matches the city it's hosted in.

  • Northeast Conference (NEC): The entire tournament is played at campus sites, with the higher seed hosting every game including the championship.
  • Patriot League: This conference also follows a higher-seed hosts format for all rounds.
  • America East: Games are played at campus venues of the highest seeds throughout the tournament.
  • Horizon League: Employs a hybrid model where early-round games are hosted by the higher seeds on campus before moving to a neutral site for the semifinals and finals.
Big West, Coastal, MAAC, MAC, WAC, Big Sky, Sun Belt, Big South, Ohio Valley, Southern, SWAC, MEAC, Summit, and American all have fixed neutral sites.

The Southland Conference is the only one with that specific, locked-in "home court" contract regardless of how the host team (McNeese) actually performs during the season.
