The Lumberjacks finish up a long road streak against the Cardinals of Lamar University. Traditionally, Beaumont has been one of the toughest places for the Jacks to play. It's unclear whether Braeuer's new look team will face the old struggles, but there's some reasons to think they will.

While the Cards have not had a very impressive season, their strengths are similar to the Jacks strengths. They are very good at limiting shots. Shot denial especially outside shots is a specialty of the team. Offensive rebounds are also a strength creating more offensive opportunities. They have a balanced scoring roster with their top three shooters scoring over 10 ppg.

The Jacks have been asserting their will over the other teams in the Southland. Quietly, Colonel leads the league in blocks and offensive rebounds. While not putting up the best offensive stats, he is changing the complexion of the inside game.

Keon is the league leader in shots taken. His relentless drives can help force defenses to adapt opening other players. Against a pressure defense like Lamar, this could help find an edge.

Free throws have almost always been the difference maker in the last decade of games in Beaumont. Jacks need to hit theirs today in a chilly matchup that should bring the heat.

What I like about this year's team is the attitude. Of course I know winning helps everyone keep pulling in the same direction, but we've had players in years past that even while winning would throw little tantrums on the floor.

Keon sometimes projects a negative attitude but it hasn't risen to the level of affecting the team like it sometimes did last year. The guys really seem to enjoy what they are here to do, and that's to dominate. It's a good recruiting class. Just wanted to give some props.
