I said it after watching them in their game against Texas Southern. There's a ton of talent on this team. There's not a slouch among the eight who've been playing. No dropoff when anyone checks in. Honestly can't say that about other teams recently. They're all good!
With only 8 players playing, I'd have to credit the conditioning of these ladies for a large part of their success.
Getting just one or 2 healthy will help so much! We saw they were pretty tired at the end of the 2nd (just a few rows back of the bench) but they kept up the pace!
Just playing a few games together, they are playing cohesively. That no-look behind the shoulder pass from Avery to Manie for a 3 was....probably the coolest BB play I've seen in person! Also, it was Manie's 1000 points and her family was there with posters. It was so awesome!!!

Does anyone have an idea of what the injury scenario really is? With a little more back up, this could easily be a 24 or 25 win squad.

I was at the game with my son since I live in Jacksonville. Samford has talent. SFA toyed with them. Our team is legit. Can pick up full court anytime we want and force turnovers without committing fouls. And Van Sickle barely looked for her offense until the 2nd half. And BTW, we weren't even included in the tournament "bulletin" for some reason. Maybe we were a late addition? Not to brag but Coach shot me an axe em jacks.

The play-by-play guy on Q107 was really good. I don't think I've heard him before. He should be doing the Jacks ESPN+ streamed games. He's much better than those two amateurs.

You are referring to Chase, who did the ESPN+ announcing up until this year. He now does the radio announcing.

Yes, my name is Chase Merrell and I appreciate the kind words from everyone. I hope that you all continue to tune into Ladyjacks Basketball on Q107! I covered SFA Men's and Women's Basketball on ESPN+ from my senior year of college (2021-2022) to last year (a total of 3 seasons). During this summer, plans were made for me to cover SFA Women's Basketball on Q107 and still cover SFA Men's Basketball on ESPN+. Unfortunately, due to some very last-minute changes, the ESPN+ role was no longer available. I do hope to cover some ESPN+ games someday, but I absolutely love being able to travel with the Ladyjacks and I can't tell you enough how much it means to me for all of you to be tuning in! I am trying to get better about posting on here and social media so please feel free to look me up and give me a follow! If you're on TikTok, I am going to start posting videos of all the arenas that the Ladyjacks will play in this season!

Thanks Chase. I feel that you have grown as a broadcaster since that first season. Comes with experience and learning the ropes, when and what to say etc. I'll have to consider putting 107 on audio to listen to your call of the games. Keep working it....hopefully get you back to ESPN + as well.

You're 100% better working alone than with a partner. Much smoother and provided lots more detail about what was happening on the court. I've heard you before, but you seemed to sound different on the radio. Probably just my poor hearing. Keep up the good work.
Next up is at 8-1 Texas Tech on Tuesday. Tech is big, with ten girls 6' or taller, including 6'6" and 6'7". Interesting that they only out rebound opponents by .4 per game. We will need to put four quality quarters together.
Pilotgirl remembers three years ago when Tech was going to pull out of an MTE in Katy if they had to play the Ladyjacks. The organizers reworked the schedule so we didn't play. I guarantee that Coach remembers.

SFA is #81 (Massey) and Texas Tech is #47. It's a winnable game if we can stay disciplined for the whole game.
