SFA (14-7, 6-2) vs. Seattle (16-5, 7-1)

The SFA Lumberjacks are once again in control of their own fate for another WAC season crown going into the halfway mark of conference play. The Jacks will take on the first place RedHawks of Seattle U in the afternoon tilt on Saturday. If the home team wins it will put them into a 4 way tie with the other two loss WAC teams (depending on Saturday's results).
Seattle stunk it up last night in Huntsville. Unsurprisingly for a first visit to the prison gym of Texas, they could only hit 9 buckets all game. 5 of them were from beyond the arc. Yes, they hit 4 (four!) two pointers the entire game. Unfortunately, SFA should expect them to hit that many in the first four minutes of play.
Seattle is tough and gritty and loaded with shooters Thursday night notwithstanding. Cameron Tyson (6' 2", Jr., G) is the leader racking up 19 points and 5 rebounds a game. Alex Schumaker and Riley Grigsby fill out the best starting guard corps in the WAC. They rain threes, grab rebounds, and do not turnover the ball.
Against a tough defense in Sam, they only turned the ball over 10 times in the game. It was an off shooting night. The Jacks are going to have to keep them from making easy buckets to keep their Texas swing shooting woes going.
It's not going to benefit the Jacks to get into a shootout, but if it does, we need some scorers to step up. The Lumberjacks have never stopped going for the dirty points inside, but we've been putting up a lot of 15-18' jump shots lately. We have to turn to high percentage buckets if possible against a solid defensive squad.
Seattle doesn't really have a height advantage but we need output from our bigs this game. Nana, Jalil, and Day Day are going to have to be tough inside. But the RedHawks will opt for outside shots, our perimeter defenders are going to need to be stellar.
Hayman impressed with his quick hands on Wednesday. We need active defense all game. If we can rattle Seattle and get some points off turnovers, then the Jacks will find themselves back atop the heap in the WAC.
