Tough to end it like that, especially after the effort and ability to get back in that game. We can't get down that big and expect to be able to win, that will always be on us. Huge credit to our guys for fighting back and never giving up. Really awesome to see.

However, just to add to a few other comments on yesterday's crew. To say they were inconsistent would be accurate. I've said plenty of times in my years that officiating doesn't lose games, but it makes an impact on how you play and DOES make a difference. Especially when the inconsistencies come in big moments

1. They were 100% wrong on the technical at the end. First off I don't think they knew what they were actually calling. There was a timeout called, but it was verbal and to me looked like there was a tie ball first...and thus should have been our ball. The closest ref was actually trying to call a foul and I guess was overruled when they discussed. BUT, the call they did make was incorrect in awarding us with one FT. According to the rule book we should have been rewarded with two FTs and not the one. I confirmed with a friend of mine that is an NCAA official.

That said, if Bothwell makes the shot they still win anyway. BUT, taking a shot that you have to make vs taking a shot knowing OT is the worst outcome is very different. You can't mess that up as an official.

2. We (Nigel I believe) got called for the technical for pulling on the rim. Marginal at best, but if you're going to call it why didn't Furman get called for the same thing earlier in the game? I'd let them both go, but that's not what they did.

3. There was a sequence where Slawson had a follow up on a miss that looked like the ball was still above the rim. It was never reviewed, but afterwards Slawson stood there for a good 2-3 seconds and just stared down Hall. That's a technical every time I've seen that situation.

Again, we can't put ourselves in the position we were in and expect to win. Keller said the same thing after the game. But it's extremely frustrating to watch close games go against you when the officiating crews make incorrect calls or just flat out don't know the rules of the game. We're talking about a possible 5 point difference with the above.
