After last week's dominating victory over Liberty in the Hall of Fame Classic, all eyes are now on SFA's first attempt at a top 10 team since Duke. The Kansas Jayhawks have one of the…Wait, that's not the game! The game is tonight against the Warhawks of ULM.
This is the trap game! No team in SFA's history with more than 20 games played has a better winning percentage against us than ULM (62%). Just a year ago a limping Warhawks team beat SFA by 11. This game has caution tape all over it. The Jacks came off an emotional big win where they lost one of their top players, and they are looking ahead to a game to try to cement their legacy. Here in the middle are the ugly ducks that on paper we should dominate by double digits. ULM is quite happy with their spot as spoilers.
The Lumberjacks just had an extremely impressive showing against Liberty on Saturday. They played hard physical defense, played as a full and deep unit, and didn't let the game's slow pace bother them. Tonight, they will have to do the same except against a team that is comfortable with a much faster pace.
Posey and Hawkins will combine to shore up Ware's absence. Between Jaylin's D and Nigel's offense, they should have that covered. Jossell is now going to have to get more confident in his shooting game while Gavin, David, and Calvin are going to have to lead by example.
There's not much to tonight except execution. If we do, we win. There's not much ULM can do to stop that, but we have to focus on this game.
