Yeah, I hate blaming refs & they certainly aren't the only thing to blame here BUT there were tons of Phantom fouls against us (announcers even agreed) and hardly any called on Zags.

We shot like dog poo & didn't get rebounds.

Gotta fix all that.

One of the things I think worked real well last year that we're not doing this year was the 2 lineups setup.

Would like to see us go back to that, because it let both lines run at 110% while they were in the game.

Rebounds, 49-31. That's the game. Aiyana and AB with only three RB's each. Heck, Mitchell got four. Visscher did her part with seven. I expect Gonzaga to out rebound us, but that's 18 more possessions. Somehow, someway, we have got to get better on the boards, and that has to come from Aiyana and AB.

Portland is not a must win by any stretch, but it is important for this team.

The rash of offensive rebounds at crunch time did us in. Some of that was the ball bouncing their way. Points off free throws went their way. Overall solid game except for a few possessions.

Portland is 66 NET. We already beat Houston at home for one 50-100 win. I'm pretty sure this is a Quad 1 game for the women as well.

Update: We did NOT capitalize on their turnovers, shooting didn't improve, and rebounds didn't improve. Tick tack fouls & 2nd chance rebounds from Zags won them the game.

First off, we did ourselves in by committing too many turnovers, going cold from the field and allowing too many offensive rebounds. But one thing stood out to me: The Zags run their offense through high ball screens to free up their outside shooters. 80% of the high ball screens saw the screener take a step into our defenders so we couldn't go bottom side of the screen. If called, their bigs would have been out by the third quarter. By the fourth quarter, the Zags made a more concerted effort to go inside and they did draw a few ticky tack fouls, which were not called at the other end.
Love the hustle and love the grit. This team is going to be fine. I wouldn't want to be Portland right now.
