SFA (14-4, 10-2) vs. Central Arkansas (4-17, 3-10)
WHEN: MAR 1 (MON) 3:00P.M.
WHERE: Farris Center (Conway, AR)
WATCH: Q107.7 (audio)
The Jacks start their hardest and final week of conference play with the Bears of Central Arkansas. SFA's chances for a season title this year have been slimmed down to a razor thin wire after Saturday's loss to Lamar. The only reason that they have a chance left is because of UCA. The Bears were able to knock off Abilene Christian at home Saturday. That's right, a team with 3 SLC conference wins spoiled ACU's easy ride to the regular season title and the #1 seed.
SFA will have to channel the disappointment into three straight wins and hope for a Nicholls loss. (That could be possible as the Colonels are playing the red-hot Demons tonight in Natchitoches.) UCA is coming off a high and are looking to defend their home court. Jacks need to get their inside offense going again after a slugfest in Beaumont. Cam Johnson, who has been the team's leading scorer, has taken two weeks off from his offensive output. For the senior, there is not time but now to show what he has left in the tank.
What Jacks will we get in the afternoon showdown: a depressed group ready for the season to be over, or a back to the wall team that's going to push for everything they can get? This team has shown resiliency before. My bet is they come out ready to win.
