Nice championship Ladyjacks!

In COVID news, the Ladyjacks lead SLC win percentage at 11-0 in conference play. In second is UIW at 3-1. Four games played.

Yes...we cut it off & then realized they still were showing it!

We stayed for all of the confetti, net cutting, and other celebrations. We could have gone on the floor , but watching the shear joy from all of the players, coaches, and staff was such a pleasure. They have been so close in recent years, to get over the hump was special. As Kellogg says over and over, "this is a special group".

One more comment about the game. NSU coach and players didn't quit. They knew coming in that it would be a blood bath, yet they played hard until the end. The contrast was UCA on Monday, when coach and players quit mid way through the fourth quarter. The young NSU coach looks like a winner. She simply doesn't have the players.

Not sure if yall could see on the broadcast, but as they fired the confetti, Avery sat down & started sobbing. Every single coach & player came over & hugged her and just sat with her.

Hadn't realized she lost her mom earlier this season, but this is what a family looks like:

Her dad was never in her life. As she says, her mom died two days after she got to Nacogdoches. She also had a framed picture of what I believe to be her mom with her on the floor during the celebration. Yet, she has such a joyful, outgoing personality. And, she is one outstanding basketball player. The coaches and team are her family. One of the many reasons to support our student-athletes.
