#8 Stephen F. Austin State (3-0) vs. (RV) Prairie View A&M (1-2)
  • WHEN: Saturday, September 19, 2026 | 7:00 P.M.
  • WHERE: Panther Stadium (Prairie View, Texas)
  • TV: ESPN+
  • THEME: GOLD OUT
HISTORY
The Lumberjacks hold a 5-1-1 lead in the all-time series, but the Panthers took the last clash in a historic 2013 shootout. That night, SFA quarterback Brady Attaway threw for a school-record 662 yards, and wide receiver Aaron Thomas set a school record with 242 receiving yards. SFA even set a Southland Conference record with 827 total yards. However, five costly turnovers ultimately doomed the Jacks in a 56-48 thriller that generated a mind-boggling 1,409 yards of total offense.

THE LUMBERJACKS: THE ROLLING TRAIN
The Lumber train shows no signs of slowing down! SFA heads into Panther territory riding an incredible 13-game regular-season winning streak. The recipe for victory remains unchanged: a swarming, relentless defense paired with a punishing running attack designed to tire out opponents, dominate the clock, and secure regular-season victory number 14.

THE PANTHERS: A DANGEROUS FOE
Don't let the record fool you Prairie View A&M is dangerous. Led by Tremaine Jackson, the 2025 SWAC Coach of the Year and Non-FBS All-Texas Coach of the Year, the Panthers are coming off a historic 10-4 season their first double-digit win campaign since 1963. Backed by a veteran roster featuring 46 seniors, they are hungry to snap SFA's streak.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
  • QB Tevin Carter (#21): The 6'4", 225-pound senior signal-caller is a dual-threat weapon. He put up 439 total yards and 2 touchdowns against Tarleton State and leads the Panthers on the ground with 156 rushing yards (6.0 average).
  • WR Rodny Ojo (#9): Carter's favorite target. The 6'2" junior playmaker leads PVAMU with 152 receiving yards, averaging a massive 17 yards per catch.
  • KR Jahbari Kuykendall: A certified speedster. The kick return specialist averages 37 yards per return, including an explosive 90-yard house call for a touchdown.
  • DB Malachi Williams (#2) & LB JJ Jean-Louis (#35): The heart of the Panther defense. Williams has racked up 11 tackles, 3 sacks, and an interception, while Jean-Louis anchors the box with 9 tackles and a sack.
The streak is on the line under the Saturday night lights. Panther fans will be packing the stands, wearing the gold, ready to battle the purple and white.

Gonna be another huge test for us. Gotta ride the wave and play just as smooth as we did against ACU.

So, is this saying we have a 19.9% chance of finishing the regular season undefeated?

It updated since last week. Now it's saying we have almost a 40% chance of finishing undefeated.

Where did you find this point spread? I've seen 15.5 and 16.5. Not 19.5. Wow.

FanDuel Sportsbook

DraftKings has it at SFA -20

But the consensus Vegas line is -19.5

Vegas is going on the fact that PV gave up 49 points to Tarleton State, and then 44 points to Baylor, their logic is that PV struggles against high power offenses, so they are predicting a SFA 35 and PV 16 victory.

Honestly, I think the key to this game is to keep their QB in the pocket and keep him from scrambling.

I have not. I looked earlier this week but stopped when I saw they are $40 a piece. Insane. I'm still going, just haven't bought them yet

What's even more insane is they nearly sold out their game against Texas Southern. At those ticket prices they are making bank on ticket sales.

Whats funny is I've seen people complain about SFA ticket prices, but some of the FCS blue blood programs regularly sell their tickets for what you'd expect to pay for a P4 game.

I do expect our prices to go up when the new stadium is built.

Speaking of stadiums, by what season are they estimating that the new stadium will be finished?

Has it been confirmed where the Jacks will play while construction is happening? I've heard Lufkin and I've heard Tyler, but Lufkin will be building a new stadium of their own, but maybe in a different location than Abe Martin Stadium.

Are am I putting the cart way before the horse on this topic?

I spoke with a very reliable source prior to the McNeese game actually. As of now, construction is set to begin immediately following the 2027 football season. The absolute earliest projection for its completion is the 2028 season, but it's more realistically projected to be ready by the start of the 2029 season.

As far as where we will play home games during construction, there are currently 2 main plans. The first is to continue to play games in Homer Bryce during construction. The plan is to demolish the visitors side first but leave the home side standing. If it's safe to do so, games will be played during construction with both home and away fans sharing the press box side.

If it's not safe to do so, the second plan is to use a combination of Lufkin HS and neutral sites for home games during construction. It's currently unknown what neutral sites, but likely something like college or pro facilities in prominent alumni rich locations like Houston or the Dallas area.

So we actually get one more season with the stadium? This year and next. I assume the Field House will start at the end of this season, then? Or will Softball and Baseball be the first things to start?

The field house and on campus baseball stadium are coming first. I think the beginning of next year. After they're done the football stadium is next.

Regarding the possible neutral site games, a point. Is being made to do it much better than Sam Houston did it where basically no one showed up. There's gonna be a ton of alumni engagement around that time to try and fill whatever stadium is used.

I wasn't told any specific location ideas, but it's gonna be well coordinated if it comes to that.

Yes, the build around comes first with the track & field team who will need Home Bryce Stadium still standing, until their complex is up and running.

Also, the new soccer stadium, and indoor practice facility will have to be all completed first.

$130M Football Stadium, Indoor Practice Facility, and Field house

  • 122,700-square-foot structural teardown and rebuild over the Home Bryce Stadium footprint
  • 10,440-seat concrete bowl completely removing the 400-meter running track.
  • Luxury infrastructure, premium suites, open air loge boxes, and a Club Level
  • Stadium Plaza & Modernized In-Bowl Tech (LED video boards) state-of-the-art directional sound matrix.
  • Synthetic Turf System with sub-field drainage matrices.
  • Indoor Practice Facility with climate-controlled shield, 100-yard field professional-grade synthetic turf layout complete with end zones and boundary margins. 60-foot clearance for kicking.
  • Connected Football Field house to remove transit friction allowing direct-to-field access from locker room to the field.
  • Elite Sports Medicine & Hydrotherapy Labs, field house with medical training wing with state-of-the art rehabilitation equipment, taping bays, and a dedicated hydrotherapy lab utilizing hot/cold plunge pools and underwater treadmills.
  • Pro-Style Locker Room & Lecture Auditoriums, circular player locker room featuring ventilation-integrated lockers, custom charging docks, and digital player display. Integrated main team auditorium alongside specialized, tech-heavy position meeting rooms featuring smart boards for high level film review.
