Lamar takes down SELU! SFA is now #1 in the Southland.

Next week so the conference championship game!

WE have had a lot of talk on this board that Lamar is not good, not for real etc. But they defeat SELA and now our game vs Lamar is effectively for the SLC title next week.

No doubt that SFA knows what it's all about and hopefully will give us a huge win. Certainly can't take anything for granted. Need to show up for 60 minutes and lock down a Crown.

Ahem, don't lump me in with "we" lol.

I've been banging the drum not to get caught up in the "they haven't looked good" narrative, Wins are wins and they (Lamar) have two fantastic wins (USD and SELA).

It's a clash of two very good teams and it should be a banger.

No Master, you are not a we.

Lamar has all my respect as an opponent. Both teams 8-2. Both teams fighting for the same conference title.
Lamar has won tight games which in the end counts for something and a belief that you are never out of a game.
Lamar will stay higher ranked than SFA due to a good win over SE. That doesn't bother me at all. Maybe make the Jacks play all the harder.

If SFA wins by a good margin and someone wants to point out that Lamar wasn't all that good I'll be fine with that too. A big statement win wouldn't hurt my feelings either.

SFA needs to prep for this game like we're facing the Bison in Fargo this week. Doesn't matter what happened in the past for either teams. It's 0-0 records for both teams for a conference title this Saturday at 4pm. Jacks need to be locked in.

Ya. A little concerned about Vidlak not starting. Regardless of the outcome I would have like to see him (Vidlak) get some reps. Tear open that HCU secondary. Needed.

The 2nd half was painful sitting in that sun watching HCU struggle and call every timeout and work to keep the clock from running.

Kitna gets his first TD pass. First guys to greet him on the sidelines--Vidlak and Rutherford.

Based on a witnessing a miniscule amount of playing time, I'd rate Kitna even with Rutherford going into spring training. Rutherford is a strong straight ahead runner while Kitna seems to be a faster and more elusive runner. Both have good arms. We shall see... Now, back to the present. BEAT LAMAR!

Kitna looks like he needs to work on his throwing mechanics a little bit. The release is a little slow. Other than that, I agree.

Also, BEAT LAMAR!

Hmm. Guess Sam was banged up.

Presser---As expected no real mention from Carthel about Vidlak except to say he was suited up for emergency use only.

The key was from Rutherford when they interviewed him and he said at one point "when Sam went down".
So obviously Vidlak had some kind of injury issue---hoping it's minor and he will be ready for Lamar.

Like the way the players sound at these pressers--very much focused on team and what they need to do going forward.

I wonder... Something that happened in pregame warmups or during the week? Gee, I hope he's ready on Saturday. The biggest game we've played in many years!

Just heard from a VERY reliable source that Sam, quote: "Will try to play Saturday."

Hmmm... Might be injured worse than we think...

Man.. He doesn't seem like he's in pain. I wonder what is up. Maybe a lingering injury from last year?

Too early for us to know how bad is any injury to Vidlak. Of course we won't know as Carthel and staff will keep it quiet.
Of course we want a healthy Vidlak next Saturday. We can only wait. The question is IF Vidlak is limited by whatever this is, will we go with Rutherford.

I think back to October when OU played UT. The OU QB had under gone some kind of surgery on his thumb I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) then tried to play vs UT and was not effective.
If for example Vidlak is only 60-70% next weekend would it not be better to go with a 100% Rutherford.

Going to be a long week wondering how this plays out.
