Latest Coaching Poll is out, not quite in the Top 25 with 33 votes (up from 11 votes) SFA now sits at #28, moving up from #32.

Lamar is #24 setting up for a nice Top 25 or even Top 15 matchup in the Nac. come Nov. if both teams keep winning.

Being honest watching Lamar's highlights, they're gonna not as good as they show. They're riding the fact they beat a top 10 South Dakota, but South Dakota has turned out to be horrible this year.

Their only other worth noting wins are a very close win against an awful, and I mean awful UCA team, and a close win to a Nicholls team that has turned out to also not be very good.

Not saying our wins are that much more impressive, but UIW is still top 3 in the conference despite losing to Nicholls, and Cal Poly has turned into a quality win. Turns out they have a really, really good defense.

All that to say, Lamar is not going to finish the season ranked, and probably won't be ranked when we play them. I would bet they're gonna be on a 2 game losing streak since they play UIW and SLU right before they play us.

That's 3-straight weeks of a SFA player being named the SLC Offensive Player of the Week.

I have them (Lamar) winning their next 3. Even if they lose to UIW they probably come into Nacogdoches no worse than 6-4 and likely 7-3. They'll be gunning for SFA. Dangerous.

I'm thinking I may go to that game.

Oh I expect it to be a good game. Lamar is going to give us there best shot. I'm just saying they're not nearly as good as the rankings or their inflated record may make them seem.

They've 100%, in hindsight, played a weaker schedule than us so far. By that measure a weaker schedule than UIW or SLU too.

My current SLC power rankings as of Week 7 of the CFB season are as follows:

1: SFA. Homer pick but SFA soundly beat a surprisingly good Cal Poly team, dominated McNeese, and dominated a very good but underachieving UIW team. Offense is probably the most balanced it's ever been with a very strong run and pass game and defensively is plain dominant.

2: SLU: On paper really good but haven't played a good team yet. The only opponent they've beaten so far with a D1 win is UTRGV(who beat a bad PVAMU and an awful HCU).

3: Lamar: They "upset" a then top 10 South Dakota, but SDU turned out to be terrible this year. Barely beat an awful UCA team and won a very close game to a Nicholls team that's also turned out to not be very good.

4: UIW: Like SFA, started off very slow but mostly due to uncertainty at QB. After switching to Colsten, they've looked as good as they were supposed to be until they played SFA. Still, they're currently 2-4.

5: McNeese: They seem to be trending upward other than the shutout loss to SLU. They have a good running game and Coach V has them trending upward. Still a bad team.

6: Nicholls: They started off with a dominant win against UIW and a good performance against Troy, but since then have been really, really bad.

7: ETAMU: Like a year ago, they have a decent offense, and best NWST, but still have a ways to go before they're competitive.

8: UTRGV: They're better than the average first year CFB program, but don't let their record or stats fool you. They've played 3 sub d1 teams, a bad PVAMU team, and an extremely bad HCU team. Against SLU their defense is as exposed as really bad and I really don't see them winning more than 1, maybe 2 more games this year.

9: NWST: I like their coach. They're trending upwards, but are still awful. They'll beat HCU. Not sure they'll win anything else. But if their coach is given more time he's gonna make them competitive.

10: HCU: the huskies are garbage this season. No sugar coating. I doubt they win another game all year.

SFA, SLU, and Lamar we the only teams left in the SLC with potential playoff hopes alive at this point.

Well, they put 3-3 South Dakota back in the Top 25? A team with blow out losses to Iowa State, North Dakota State, and a 7-point loss to Lamar.

They must have some impressive wins right?

7-point win over 2-3 Northern Colorado,
21-point win over 2-2 Drake,
25-point win over 0-5 Murray State

poll bias much?

Can't say that I disagree with anything you said about any of those teams, SawmillGuy. You're pretty good at this stuff!
