Just got back home, so here's my postgame thoughts.
I was very, very pleased with the perseverance in the team. Defense played lights out all game long. Outside of getting gashed on a broken play and McNeese gaining offensive momentum for one possession, they completely dominated the Cowboys.
The offense took longer than i'm comfortable with to find their footing, but once they did it looked like the offense we wanted to see all year. Vidlak looks like he's getting dialed in, not quite where we wanted him, but almost. And it's happening at the right time heading into the grind of our next few games.
Wimbley is the man. He is running with pure power, aggression, and speed which will keep our offensive attack balanced and always dangerous regardless of down or distance.
We finally found out our kicker is capable of making anything longer than an extra point for the first time this season, hopefully we continue to use him if we get in field goal position and don't roll the dice on 4th as much(we will, but I hope not).
We need to eliminate the wildcat from our offense completely. Every single time we line up in that set, it's always a run up the middle. Every single time.
The team is coming together and seems to be trending in the right direction, and just in time for possibly our most dangerous (FCS)opponent of the season.
Now the question is can we continue to improve to the point we can meet the challenge waiting for us in San Antonio and prove the first two weeks were not indicative of what the 2025 Lumberjacks are all about.
Let's enjoy this one for 24 hours. Next Saturday, we have a slugfest waiting for us.
