Does anyone know how SF Austin originated on ESPN? This continues to bother me. How hard is it to change our name to SFA?

It has to be something the athletics department gave them at some point. I can't see it being difficult to get them to change it, but it would probably need to be someone up top requesting them to do so.

I remember in the NCAA tournament when we played WVU it said "SF AUSTIN" then against Notre Dame it was changed to "SFA".

People "up top" have requested it on more than one occasion. So far, no progress.

Ljax, this goes back to the late '80s...I was asst. SID from 88-90 and we constantly fought ESPN on this, to no avail. Had it in media guides, fact sheets, phone calls, you name it. They would not budge.

In the SFA/La. Tech soccer game they had SFA on the score graphic, so it is possible.

Three former SFA folks at La Tech that had attempted to get ESPN to mend their ways.
