Unrelated note, if the Walter Payton award is truly the MVP award, Vidlak should definitely have been a lock considering that he was literally the most valuable player on our team and had a really good chance of taking a previously 3 win team to the playoffs. Without Vidlak, even with our outstanding receiving corps we don't have anyone to throw to them.

It will be a tough hill to climb, but no doubt, back to back wins over #8 UIW and #15 ACU would be hard to over look by the committee.

#15 ACU plays #14 Tarleton State this Saturday, basically the UAC Championship, so they would need to win that game for this to work.

I very much appreciate the folks who still hold out hope, as crazy as it seems.

I'm sure the committee would take a look, but we're no better than 3rd in a bad conference with losses to two of the worst teams.

And, that team that lost to ETAMU is destined to lose to UIW by 40+

I appreciate all that you do for SFA and these forums, 93, I really do. But I think you're spitting into the wind on this one.

Haven't posted my post game thoughts, but man. Ugly L. QB play was not great, but I did see many other miscues. I mean a dropped TD before we end up rolling back our snap on a FG attempt. Simply ugly football. I do personally have faith in Carthel and I might be against many others in this forum, but this particular game simply showed how important QBs are in this day in age of the game. If we kick Carthel to the curb, we also most likely let SFA's best QB in a few years walk away too. In my head, with a healthy Vidlak, we win atleast one of the next two with hope of wining both and then we're in the playoffs. None of these convos are happening at all then.

Carthel is going no where. He is so much more than a coach to our players and I respect and love him for that.
I like this perspective personally. I gave up on winning SFA football a decade ago. I will still root for them every game though.

However, if there's a consensus, and everyone I talk to says the same thing, that Carthel is helping to build these kids into great men, then I'm in keeping him around.

Carthel's good enough of a coach to stay in the middle of the pack every year, and snag a season or two at the top. But as long as we're a continual middle of the road team, I would rather have a good developer of character than some of our past coaches.

Solid point of view and it may pay some dividends to remember we are not UT and A&M with a limitless supply of money and loyal alumni that aren't afraid to open up the wallet.

Some facility improvements should have an impact. Hope those come, and give our football program a boost.

Carthel is going no where.. So stop getting upset and demanding he be fired... He has another year and will have to produce a winning record to stay.. He is so much more than a coach to our players and I respect and love him for that.. Yes I know there have been some questionable calls and bad clock management but that goes along with the game.. To put the blame all on the coaches is not the right thing to do.. Some of these players need to step up and get fixed whatever is broken.. No doubt if Sam was playing last night the outcome would of been way different.. Stop riding the fire Carthel train because the two weeks leading up to this game you all had playoff visions..
Been missing you, 4460. Hope you are doing well.

I agree Nacluth 100%.. Don't get me wrong I hate frigging losing at anything and I grew up a coaches son so winning was always priority..If one would get to know Colby and his family then they would all be proud to have him as a leader.. He is a man of God and has brought so many kids to the Lord. He wants to win so bad I promise you.. He has invested in the community and believes in Nacogdoches.. I am sure that he knows there is going to be some pressure next year which is a contract year..

Yes sir BigJack those are the same lockers we had in 89.. a freshen up will draw some major talent because Coach is well respected by the league and they would have a great facility to just practice their craft a little better.. I would think basketball would of already drawn a can't miss prospect but it really hasn't.. I think if I remember correctly the new cafeteria that is being built across from Steen will have a specific athletic dining table/room along with nutritionist and such.. When Convict U installed that in there program that is when they started to take off and win championships.. Nutrition and diet is huge to prospects looking to make it to the next level..

I think we were so upset about this game that we failed to notice HCU beat Nicholls. College football is weird man.
