The Lumberjacks turn around and head right back to the swamp for a late afternoon matchup with the Colonels of Nicholls.

Once upon a time SFA dominated this series having won 10 of 11 from 1999 to 2015, but times have changed, and Nicholls head coach Tim Rebowe has had something to do with that. It has been an amazing transformation for a once very poor football program, that has now since 2015 won 3 conference championships, 4 trips to the Division I FCS Playoffs, 4 Top 25 finishes, (#14 being the highest mark) and 6-winning seasons.

This season the Colonels offense, known for its running game averages over 178 yards per game and is lead by RB Collin Guggenheim, who for the season has 638 yards rushing (5.0 average) with 5 TD's including a 67-yard touchdown run against LSU earlier in the season.

The passing attack is lead by quarterback Pat McQuaide who has completed 122 passes for 1,228 yards 11 TD's with 3 INT's.

Nicholls plays an aggressive style defense, that is very versatile as the Colonels have many players who can play multiple positions and contribute in many ways. LB Eli Ennis leads the team in tackles with 74 which includes 6 for a loss, 2 sacks, also he has 5 QBH's.

The Colonels defense is ranked as one of the best in the country in total defense giving up only 23 points a game while surrendering 296 total yards a game. Their rushing defense is 2nd in the country only allowing 77.3 yards a game and they are the best when it comes to forcing turnovers with a plus 12.

As for the Jacks, they have checked off one on the list of 5, as the Jacks now have the magic number down to 4 to secure a playoff spot.

SFA is a perfect 4-0 at home this season, but 1-3 on the road, so can the Jacks overcome the football road gods, that seem to send them the most unfortunate events.

Close on the road!

Tremendous respect for our opponent this week. Like us they have some losses they probably should've won, but they are going to be the most physical team we've played all year.

Gonna need to make our living with quick safe passes and fast runs. Gonna need to take what they give us, which probably won't be a lot.

Defensively we've played really well all year against the run, which helps us, but unlike SLU who had a bad QB who played really well against us, NSU has a good veteran QB who can sling it too. It's going to be a hell of a task for our defense to contain them.

This will be another game that will likely come down to the wire, and will need us to solve the curse of the 4th quarter to win.

I think that will be the UIW win on November 16.

Heads need to be screwed on right or it'll be a long bus ride back from Thibodeaux.

I love this stat, and also hate it because there's zero way a team should be this good and have 2 boneheaded losses.

IMO this game will be won up front with the big boys Whichever team controls the line of scrimmage wins. Our Oline will need to have their best game yet. I'm hoping we see the same lineup from the last game which is the group we started the season with and was the group who worked together all spring. I agree with Coach, we need to be able to convert 3rd and 4th and short.. if we get in 4th and 1 we must covert and keep the drive alive.

On the flip side, if the Dline can occupy their Oline and let the LBs fly around and make tackles in the run game we've got a great chance. No stupid personal fouls to give them a new set of downs please.
