Good victory, even if it was over a very weak opponent (the head coach there has a monumental task of rebuilding that program, and I hope he has success, because this rivalry needs to regain it's tension and thrills). I like that in the first half there was a commitment to run Jones consistently and not take him out of the game. If you have a horse, run that horse a ton.

Vidlak shined. The lob pass in the first half in the end zone to me is the play of the day, Jones' big run notwithstanding. That TD pass was a sight to behold, he could not have walked the ball in any better. Receivers played well. Tough for me to gauge defense given the poor caliber of the NSU offense.

Only downside to the game was....well....I'm not going to say it...

On to Beaumont and a tough test...but I'm more optimistic today than I was earlier in the season.

You're exactly right about that lob pass to the corner of the end zone. Between two defenders. I think it was a combination of a perfectly thrown pass and a little bit of luck.

Vidlak is the most accurate passer we've had in a long, long time.

Happy we have a stable of good running backs BUT I did see #8 Anthony Williams wearing a boot on the sidelines in 2nd half. He was in for a few first half plays so must have happened then.

Gonna check in on it myself later, but is this 16 touchdown 2 interception start the best in school history through 5 games?

Actually just checked. It is. Jeremy Moses had 16 touchdowns through 5 games in both his junior and senior seasons but also threw more interceptions.

How bout that Oline last night..
NSU had some big boys up front and our guys opened up some good holes for the RBs.
Oline also gave our QBs time to stand in the pocket and go through progressions.

Our run D is really good right now too. Dline has stuffed two run heavy teams two weeks in a row. Forced both teams to make changes to what they wanted to do.

Props to the big boys up front on both sides of the ball..!!!!

5 games into season now and 4 have turned out as expected. Only the McNeese bomb the obvious exception,
Starting next week against Lamar, we will see how and where we stand among contenders.
Lamar, UIW and probably still Nicholls will be the 3 big guns ahead. I know we are capable of beating all of these BUT must play well, must play for 60 minutes, stay on target and stay focused.

Nailed it. At times, both sides of the ball have looked unbeatable.

I took a trip down memory lane on ESPN.

2009: Jeremy had 16 TD and 9 INT through 5 games. The caveat being 5 INT in the opener at SMU

2010: Jeremy was 13 TD and 3 INT through 5 games.

I don't dig any further, but Sam definitely one of the hottest starts in school history,

Although the 5 TD's in 8 passes against NAU buffs the numbers.
